Re: New Honda Aero paint job
Well that paint job didn't last that long. Blew out rear tire today on piece of metal going 35, fishtailed into curb, had it controlled and slowed until i hit a storm drain/huge metal pothole and had to drop the bike or topple over with it. Havn't been that scared since the back end of my Gyro dropp...

Re: Stretched Belt??
I installed a new Keli Variator, double checked many times and am pretty certain it is installed well. Before installing the new variator, on takeoff from a dead stop the scooter would hesitate for a second, then kind of all of a sudden grab and takeoff quick (enough to do a very quick little peel o...

Re: Ideal painting weather conditions??
Since you're in Portland, head over the cascades and to Central Oregon on a forecasted sunny day (they occur much more frequently than in the valley), and bring your plastics along with you. Make a trip out of it and go skiing/snowboarding at Mt. Bachelor or to some type of event over in Bend.

Stretched Belt??
Could a stretched belt lead to a weaker takeoff? While getting the variator nut off, my strap wrench system was tugging on the belt a bit, and ever since I have noticed a weak takeoff compared to before. I don't know how hard it is to stretch a belt accidentally (or if it's even possible), but just ...

Re: New Honda Aero paint job
I love the orange. It's a refreshing summer color. Here's my 85: That's an awesome looking Spree, really like the custom color on the logo. Makes me wish that I still had my '86. Took the Aero out for it's first real ride of the season yesterday and had a guy at a stoplight say "That's a sweet...

Re: New Honda Aero paint job
Went to oregon state university so painted the Aero orange and black to show some alumni pride. I was just about to say something about the Beavers! Nice to see another alum on the boards (class of '09) Hellz yea, Go Beavs. I think I am going to put the OS or angry beaver logo somewhere on t...

Re: New Honda Aero paint job
Went to oregon state university so painted the Aero orange and black to show some alumni pride. I just used rustoleum universal rattle can along with plastic primer for the orange parts, some flaws where I mostly got lazy or wasn't careful, but overall i like the outcome. Going to paint the wheels b...

New Honda Aero paint job
finally put all my panels back on after the new paint job. Snapped a quick photo of the right side. Took back off the left side panel to put orange accents on as it looks pretty bland compared to this side (it is just black with a white decal).

Putting on new decals for Honda Aero
Right now working on new decals to go atop my new paint job for my Aero 50. Just created and put on a large honda wing right on the front panel. The people in my house don't seem to share the same excitement that I have for the new decal, but I think it looks prettttayyyy nice. Currently trying to s...

Painting the muffler
I am going to be painting the muffler on my Aero and have some questions. It is kind of rusty, what type of prep work is needed? Also, for the actual muffler, I am going to use black BBQ grill paint, but was wondering what type of paint will work on the muffler protector? I want to accent it orange,...

Re: High Speed Variator Question
Greetings: How greasy were your hands when you re-assembled? How about the ramp plate? All the friction surfaces including the belt have to be squeaky-clean or the belt can slip. The other possibility is that the splines between the outer pulley sheave and the crankshaft were not correctly engages....

Re: High Speed Variator Question
Okay, the rollers that came with the variator were 9 grams. Does anyone know what the stock roller weights are? I know that decreasing the roller weights picks up the take-off, so I'm curious if the 9 grams was actually an increase in weight which may have contributed to the slower take-off. In any ...

High Speed Variator Question
I installed a new keli high speed variator on my '85 Aero and took it for a test drive. It started to rain very hard just as I started it up, so i did not get much of a test run in. Have some questions however on the things i noticed and wondering if they're in line with is what is supposed to happe...
