Re: Stock Oil Pump Delivery Ratio
Gee there's sure a lot of shoot-from-the-lip types on the board today! I don't think you read a word of my post, and if you did you got it all muddled up. Did I say anything about "cylinder shut down technology"? Did I recommend running at "10k+ rpms"? Did you miss the part about...

The Dio exhausts come in 2 port sizes, so be sure to ask before you buy!

Re: Some questions about Honda Spree - Engine swaps and such
if a later engine can be swapped into one of them A Spree is what it is. It's not worth up-engining a Spree because there's just not enough there to work with. It's too little, and everything is either too cheap or in the wrong place. They're really cute and fun to ride around the neighborhood, but...

Re: Stock Oil Pump Delivery Ratio
It's also useful to remember that a direct-drive 2 stroke doesn't disengage the drive train when you close the throttle. The engine is still blasting along at 10,000rpm but WITHOUT oil. Without an oil pump, the engine depends on the oil in the fuel, and when you close throttle you're cutting off the...

Re: Battery recommendation for spree used daily and kept out
Take the Spree inside. A Spree only weighs about 80lbs and is easy to move around indoors. It's a lot safer than leaving it outside.

Re: Oil Plug blown Out!!!!!!
If the plug isn't seating right, are you sure the plug isn't bumping into the oil pump drive gear below? And why not just leave the oil pump in place? It's useful and it fills the hole nicely.

Re: 2001 Honda Dio SK50?(Canada) Upgrade Options
Right now i have 10,000km on stock piston, not sure how long those last. No worry. I have about 15,000 miles (~24,000km?) on mine (the one with the holed piston) and it's back on the road again for the 5th time. It still looks like it has lots of life left. They're really well-built, but be sure to...

Re: 2001 Honda Dio SK50?(Canada) Upgrade Options
I'm looking for a tiny bit more power for going up steep hills. I've tried all kinds of BigBoreKits, and blown up several pistons while doing so. The expensive part of the research is the carburetor options. But I have hit 60+mph several times, usually just before exploding the whole unit. My sugge...

Re: where can i find a exhaust
Always check the exhaust pipe size when ordering Elite/Dio pipes. They come in 2 sizes, and rarely mention what size they're shipping to you.

Re: '86 Spree piston and cylinder are toast...
Emailed Taz and he is out of BBKs til mid July. Should I go with a 44mm or a 48mm? I will run it with a stock carb, stock exhaust and uni pod filter. Go big, or go home, as they say. Go for the biggest bore that you can afford. A bigger bore doesn't usually cost much more. Bigger bores sometimes re...

On a '96 Dio, I've never noticed any benefit from a performance CDI, but maybe they're useful on other types.W8kbrder wrote:Question: is a performance CDI worthwhile?

Re: Best Combos - BBK Carb Exhaust etc
Depends what you're doing. I have a Dio (Elite) with a JiangWayne 50mm BBK that's really quick (over 60mph), but it's temperamental and really noisy. It's like driving a race car. Often in traffic, with the CHT steadily creeping up, I wish I had something a little milder! But for drag racing the Yam...

Re: 2001 Elite S 50: Big Bore Recommendations
A 50mm BBK makes a HUGE difference in acceleration. You can get the jump on most cars when the light turns green, although the Corvettes will gradually pull ahead :-) <-- joke Watch you don't upend it if you bang on the throttle! The larger BBKs (50mm bore) require a larger exhaust system since they...
