Just in time for spring

I am in the process of tearing down my 3rd generation build sa50 and planning an almost complete new direction this time. I know it's late in the year to start this since spring is here now but I was out riding enjoying nice weather for a change and had a very kind driver show me how far you can sli...

Re: 99 SA50P build help

I have a kelli vari w/9g rollers and a polini 2g clutch and bell just haven't had time to put them on yet. Also just wasn't sure if it was worth upgrading to the expansion chamber or pg long exhaust while I have it down. And can anybody tell me the difference between the polini vari that VT keep try...

99 SA50P build help

ok I have a 99 sa50p build that I am currently very disappointed with. A few weeks ago I got done with the breakin and opened the throttle up to 100% and have nothing above 50% throttle but more noise. The build is a 72 cc polini corsa with a 44 mm crank a 24 mm mikuni and phong gear short exhaust t...

Re: New build problem

ok problem solved and I feel like such an idiot for missing it. First thing I don't have a cv carb I have a standard cable actuated plenum it just wasn't connected to the throttle cable. The cable had enough curve to drag the plenum about a quarter of the way open then the vacuum would suck it back ...

Re: New build problem

New info but I'll answer your questions first. I ordered the mini stroker kit from Ebay that included the extra thick base gasket and just the one head gasket that was included in the corsa kit. I had plenty of clearance so didn't see a need for further buildup. Now on to what I found. I took the ai...

Re: New build problem

I haven't done a compression check didn't know I had to on a new cylinder and I explained the problem as best I could. No matter where I pull the throttle back to even wot it surges up and then goes back to idle like I let it go. I'm also running 89 octane fuel and was wondering if I needed to go up...

New build problem

I just got finished building an sa50 72cc stroker using a polini corsa, 44mm stroker crank and an oko 24mm carb with a pg short exhaust everything else is stock for now till the tuning of the engine is right. The problem is it starts and runs fine but when I hit the throttle it revs up to about 3500...

Steering stem swap

Now that my winter project is underway I was looking into the possibility of adding a sym dio or super dio front end with disk brakes to the buile and was wondering if anybody has tried this on an sa50p. I can pick up a steering stem for the sym dd50 for around $75 and wanted to know if I had to do ...

Re: Winter project

after reading that I caught a typo. I meant to say 130 main and 35 pilot. I don't see the size of the main being that critical since I plan on setting my redline around 7000 rpm to avoid over rev and losing the crank that I know from what I've read can be a weak spot. My concern is since I will ride...

Winter project

I am planning on a build for this winter involving a 45mm bore kit with a 44mm mini stroker. The mods I planned on paper are an oko 28mm carb and 30mm racing intake starting off with the original 35 main and 130 pilot. I also already have a PG short exhaust and a performance variator from VT Cycles....

Need a new cdi box

I have a 96 elite sa50p that has gone through 3 cdi boxes so far. Now is it because I keep buying the race cdi for 15 to 20 bucks on ebay? The original lasted 8k miles and was wondering if getting a stock one was worth the expense or if there something wrong with my scooter that keeps blowing them? ...
