Re: New to forum, mods for a dio
have just tried new plug, and things still the same. also tested fuel pump for flow and there is plenty of petrol getting to carb. I guess the pipe cleaning is next. this is a wild stab, but could the crank case possibly be leaking? I have noticed a fine spray of black oil under the left of the engi...

sym/bolwell jolie question
Does anyone know what is the relationship between the sym/bolwell jolie 50 scooter and the honda dio? The sym jolie is sold currently in australia and are quite cheap secondhand. I read on one post of another forum that they are the same motor as a dio (AF18), but no one can confirm that. (see pictu...

Re: New to forum, mods for a dio
okay the saga continues I installed the carb reconditioned kit (good buy from keyster), with new needle, seat, gaskets, jets, seals, etc. Reinstalled the carb and the problem remain the same. It bogs down when trying to accelerate or open throttle, but gains power once it clears. The odd thing is th...

Re: New to forum, mods for a dio
Unfortunately, when the bike fell it broke the JDM, if only a small hole. I guess, once my other problems are ironed out, that I will probably replace the unit and wire it up as the original JDM. I am thinking, however, that I would like to keep the luggage rack, so may knock up some sort of comprom...

Re: New to forum, mods for a dio
Just located a dio sk50 pdf manual on line at http://www3.telus.net/MyScoot/repair02.html (left a pm to noiseguy). Will review float level and carb adjustments accordingly. I think I may have wrongly adjusted float level to SA50 measurements. I have also been having a bad feeling about the pipe (as ...

Re: New to forum, mods for a dio
thanks for the advice.
have just come across carb rebuild kit on ebay for US$10 so I thought I might start my carb journey there.
we don't have levitra in australia. we use a piece of twine, a brick and an electric probe. works for me every time.

Re: New to forum, mods for a dio
Thanks for the replies guys. I have not had time to do anything on dio except look at it briefly as i walk past. Plan of action: - New plug - reset carb to previous float level - measure bystarter - will pull apart petcock (can't help giggling like a girl when I say that out loud) and give it a clea...

Re: New to forum, mods for a dio
I've been out to the shed again and did the 12v test on the bystarter. It moved, but only a couple of mms.

Re: New to forum, mods for a dio
Thanks for the tips wheelman. I will test the bystarter next time I am in the shed. Today I had a friend over who is well versed in 2 strokes from the 70s and 80s. He had the thought that it seemed to be flooding, like too much petrol was pouring into the intake. Indeed, it does seem that there is p...

Re: New to forum, mods for a dio
Yes, rollers were replaced with variator kit. There doesn't appear to be any problem there. I had another crack at the dio today, removed the reed block, and the reeds seems clean, seal well, and no cracks. I am guessing that they have been replaced at some stage. I did, just to be safe, put a thin ...

Re: New to forum, mods for a dio
PS - Wheelman, I can't seem to get the shroud to snap together. It wouldn't on standard bore either. Might have to rig up something else.

Re: New to forum, mods for a dio
thanks for the advice guys. I don't think it is the clutch, as the 'bogging down' is still an issue when the clutch is fully out, ie if going 40kmh at full throttle, then back off for a few seconds, then accelerate again and it will bog down. That said, I haven't opened the clutch yet, so cannot rea...
