Re: 86 Spree not getting fuel
You stated that you "blew" into the vacuum line from the petcock when you should have been "sucking" to create vacuum. Loosen the carb bowl drain screw while you are "sucking" and see if you get a steady stream of fuel draining out. I'm guessing you have a vacuum issue ...

Re: '86 Spree will not kick over
I had same prob and thought it was the bystarter or carb. Turned out to be a vacuum leak. These small engines need all the vacuum they can get to draw the fuel in. I'm running at a lowly 100psi and she now starts on the third or fourth kick, cold. Also sounds like someone has put the wrong size O-r...

Re: Oil injection plug fail. =)
FYI,
7 pennies, stacked up, will perfectly plug your NQ50 bystarter port.

Re: Bad oil pump?
I've had my pump apart several times, no prob ('86 NQ50). Your oil pump may not be bad but may need proper priming. Here is the China Freight pump I use to prime mine. Placed teflon tape on the spout fittings and pumped that puppy!

NQ50 vs. NQ50D What's the Difference?
I run a bone-stock, clipped (sans turn signals, mirrors), black, 1986 NQ50. What's the difference between the NQ50 and the NQ50D? Cosmetics maybe?

Re: NQ50 Custom Carb Insulator
All good ideas, may try the soaking but don't think it will show the true story as the fuel that comes through the insulator is atomized and not liquid plus this flooring is real hard stuff. We burned up several saw blades just cutting it when laying the new floor. As far as the heat issue, I'm runn...

NQ50 No-touch Petcock Cover Saver
Haven't lost my petcock cover but just for insurance I fabbed this retainer that doesn't alter any stock parts. Didn't know this was an issue until I visited this board. With this flat retainer plate (.120 aluminum) it's impossible for the cover to ride up and out of its socket.

Re: NQ50 Custom Carb Insulator
Yes, I thought about that, which is why I used the hardest laminate I could find (there are different grades) and am monitoring the install. I am pretty confident that sandwiching everthing together with a certain amount of compression will hold up. I was wondering how many people are running around...

NQ50 Custom Carb Insulator
This is my remedy for any vacuum leak or high heat issues between the manifold and carb on a '86 NQ50. It is twice as thick (7mm) as the stock insulator, isn't as fragile and doesn't use O-rings (i.e. Challenger shuttle). I used a free sample of 7mm laminated, high grade flooring from Lowe's and two...
