Re: Done with this version of spree!
i found that the break in was easy. Didnt top 20 mph the whole time. Went through a full tank of gas, then opened it up a bit for the next tank. I did find that even after 500 miles on bbk, i was soft seizing at wot for any more than 1 min. After the odnix advice of adding 2 extra oz of oil to each ...

Re: advice
peeing in a wetsuit is usually comforting. this was just a plain mess!!! No comfort here. Thank god there was a mobil mart nearby to take off face shield and wash. Was too cold out last night to ride with the shield up!

advice
A bit of advice. If you are wearing a full faced helmet with the face shield down, and have to sneaze, make sure you lift the face shield before the sneaze. Killed my vision at night...........

Re: Spree with BBK and Gears lost all power today
have checked compression since my problem. Plenty of it. I also took the carb off, dipped it for a weekend, blew out with compressed air, and put it back on. Took taz advice and checked exhaust for carbon. Very clean because I did a lye dip over the winter. Put it all back together, and have the sam...

Re: Spree with BBK and Gears lost all power today
I weigh 180 lbs. I have 3" tires, bbk, and taz gears. I get 35 to 38 on flat surfaces, and over 40 on down hills. I also get 30 going up a good sized hill. I now have 700 miles since the upgrade, and would deffinitely reccommend it to anyone looking for more power and speed. My mid range power ...

Spree with BBK and Gears lost all power today
I have over 300 miles on my spree since I did the big bore kit and gears. I have been enjoying nice speed, and very nice power at start up as well as up hills. That is until this morning..... Now she takes forever to get off the line and accellerate. Once im at 20 mph i feel a little power kick in, ...

Re: Spree Tank Volume
Thanks. For some reason I figured it was a gallon. Now my fuel consumption does not seem so bad.

Taz BBK/gears Update
I now have over 200 miles logged since my bbk/gear upgrade. She goes a constant 35 on flats and slight inclines. Faster, (i burried the spedo, anything over 40 seems a bit squirley on brakes and suspension) on downhills. When I start her cold, the bystarter works fine, and she comes to a nice idle a...

Spree Tank Volume
What is the tank volume on the Spree? I filled up today after my fuel gauge read empty, and only got 1/2 gallon in before it topped off. What type of mpg should I expect with Taz Big bore and gears? She seems like she is eating a lot of fuel. Did a 40 mile ride today on a little more than 1/2 gallon...

Re: Tazland Big Bore Kit and Gears
I was able to utilize the existing gasket, as well as using some gasket silicone. The whirring noise is not really noticeable until about 10 mph. Its not that bad, but its there. My big concern is the idling situation. Idles fine when it is running for 20 min or less. Came back from a long ride yest...

Re: Tazland Big Bore Kit and Gears
I noticed in the 10 to 25 mph range the response was amazing, and I had a lot more power. Once the break in was done, i took her for a 30 mile ride. My top speed on the flats is 35 mph, and going down hills is more. Going up a large hill that I would gag at 20 mph with the old setup, I cruised up at...

Tazland Big Bore Kit and Gears
Hello all, I have a 1984 spree with 2000 miles on it. I purchased the big bore kit/gears combo when Tazland was running his special on the 2 in December. They are both installed, the bike is back together, and the break in period is over. I also installed 3 X 10 tires. I have a few comments then a f...

Re: spree carb
Got it! She fired right up and purrs like a kitten. Took first break in ride (8 miles) and she seems to respond well. Letting her cool down for a few hours, and going for round 2. Props to Tazland. Kit (bbk and gears) seem to give her the pep she needs. Will keep you posted.

spree carb
Fired up spree for first time since taz rebuild. She starts, but immedieatly bogs down and stalls. Looking at carb, at the back of the carb on the top left side, is a small hole that looks like it is and overflow of some sort. once running, gas is dribbling out of this hole. any ideas? going to remo...
