Re: So I bought a Spree IOWA......
I still have the same Spree IOWA that I started this thread talking about. I've used it for a pit bike for the past handful of years and then it went dead again so I stuck it in the shed and for a year or 2 and forgot about it. It went dead at the races when my buddy took it out for a ride (everybod...

Re: So I bought a Spree IOWA......
Those holes would totally mess the mixture up, that duct tape should help narrow things down. My 84 stock spree has a 68 jet and with a small leak in the air box lid ran very lean. Those holes would be a major issue with that jet im suspecting.[/quote] Yeah, it still will only go 20 mph but it runs...

Re: So I bought a Spree IOWA......
Here is a picture of my exhaust...doesn't appear to be a restriction device in there.... Exh_Flange.jpg The air box is all there and intact along with the center screw. Hose and clamp from the box is all good.. Hoping the larger jet will make the difference being that the restriction device is gone ...

Re: So I bought a Spree IOWA......
When you have the carb apart, check the main jet. If it is a 65, you need to install a 68 jet for unrestricted use. Main jet is indeed a 65, where do I get a 68? Just go to the Honda dealer and ask for a Keihn (spelling?) 68 main jet or is it something special??? Thanks, LM The 68 jet is the standa...

Re: So I bought a Spree IOWA......
All you have to do is remove the exhaust. Look in the head pipe (the part that bolts to the exhaust flange on the engine) and there will be a washer welded in there. Either dremel it out or use a stepped drill bit to ream it out. Bye-bye restricted exhaust. Thanks Bear, I'll take a look. I have the...
