84 Spree have 40 MPH speedos... ironically the later ones only go to 35 but are faster. How's that for false advertising?

Def false advertising. Know anything about the (e) suffix? Like maybe if it is from another country?

To me its worth it because I have no family, no kids, no wife. I have all the time in the world.
If you have any of the above I would say its not worth it

Still couldn't use the multimeter. The piston and jug is in prestine shape. I'll try a compression test next(with my thumb). I really don't think its the compression. It now wants to start but just doesn't. It has nice bluish spark and is getting gas to the carb. Any ideas?

This def. is not normal. Don't ride that on too much until you find out what the issue is. It may blow your motor in the long run. I also see you are from Santa Clarita. I'm about 30 min north of you in Palmdale. Let me know if you ever need any parts. I part out Sprees all the time :D

Thanks pimpin spree thats kinda the instructions I needed. I got kinda impatient yesterday so I swapped the motor with an 86' that I had laying around. Anyways I think it was for the best because the was some weird kinda white powder lurking around that motor when I pulled off the kickstarter case. ...

Help me save this 87 Spree from being parted out...

I recently picked up another Spree on Craigslist to part out, but when I cleaned it up it really looked good and thought it would be a shame to part it. So then my misson began trying to get it started. I have a bunch of left over parts from my other part-outs so I figured I would give it a shot. Fi...

I was having a similar issue with mine and it ended up being a faulty auto-bystarter. Check the tech docs and it tells you how to test your auto-bystarter. If the bystarter checks out okay then I would think that maybe you got some junk in your carb that you need to clean out. 8)

OK so now I finally got the thing running, but it doesn't idle too well. I put the new autobystarter on and decarbonized the muffler with NAOH just like on the tech docs end no more white smoke. I rode it around the block a few times and when I stop it dies out. I also adjusted the throttle cable an...
