What's this wheel really worth?
Is it normal for Ebay parts to have serious amounts of rust? I recently bought a front wheel for my 86 Spree from Ebay. No tire. I paid $20 plus shipping. I haven't been pricing Spree parts, so I'm wondering if the price is excessive for what I got. The comments said: SOME RUST IN THE INSIDE AND ARO...

Ok, finally got a chance to take it apart. The manual says the clutch pads should be 1.5mm minimum but the picture is not clear on what is being measured. The curved metallic looking surfaces are less than 1 mm, maybe a half mm mounted on some sort of fiber substrate. If the substrate is not suppose...

I don't have a clutch spring compressor, but I'll see if I can rig something up and check the pads. What are other symptoms of low end power problems? I can get up to about 30mph on the flat, and maintain 20 up a long hill on my 10 mile commute. If I can trust the gas gauge I'm getting around 50mpg ...

Cold vs Hot Clutch
I haven't seen this discussed before. If I apply throttle immediately after starting my '86 Spree the clutch engages instantly and I'm off. From then on there is a noticeable delay between the time the throttle is applied and when the power gets to the wheel. From what I've read here it sounds like ...

Left turn signal not working
I probably did this to myself, but can't figure out how... 86' Spree. My right turn signal works fine, but when I try the left all I get is a fast clicking sound from the left side of the bike and no light front or rear. The sound seems to be coming from the vicinity of the blinker module next on th...

Got it. Actually I downloaded another copy of the manual and peeked. Everything is back together and I've been out for a test run. Another question arose however. When I removed the muffler what looks like a large version of a spark plug washer came out of the side of the cylinder. I reused the same...

Help changing tire
I need some advice changing the tires on my '86 Spree. It has about 2300 miles, but sat for years and I noticed some cracks on the sidewall of the rear tire when I got it running, otherwise both front and rear seemed to be holding pressure and the tread is fine. These may be the original tires and t...

I'll be getting my learners permit in the next week or so, but there is only one route I can use for several long sections and it has bike lanes. I'm going to have to chance using them. The vehicle code specifically allows motorized bycycles in bike lanes, so if I get stopped I'll plead safety reaso...

Looks like you got a bad bystarter. Disable it like I did or get a new one. How do you disable it? I'm having trouble starting my '86 Spree and measured the resistance last night at 4 ohms. Carb and fuel delivery look ok otherwise. This is one I've just acquired and never had running. Owner said it...

The operators manual has disappeared for the moment, but I recall being surprised to see a Yamaha manual with the other documents and looking through it and seeing all the same controls. The pictures looked just like the scooter even though all the decals and labeled parts say Honda. I've downloaded...

I can deal with the motorcycle endorsement and registration, but the bike lane is not good news. I understand the idea of riding in the left tire track, and on a residential street I have no problem with that. The problem is that most of the other roads around here are single lane 45mph zones with m...
