I was going to fabricate a rack extension for the rear and fashion some water tight panniers to mount on either side of the wheel then throw a waterproof box on the rack, my single person tent will fit between the box and the seat. Isn't that the truth. Haha. I've always wanted to do something like it but my trip I had planned was about 4k miles but I was gonna take about a month to do it so I could camp and see the country and such. Not quite as hardcore.

Just take off the transmission cover, take an impact wrench and take the 17mm nut off and remove the washer and drive face. I thought that vari (pun) same thing but I pulled one off my SR and I am it's third owner. Both original owner and second owner did nothing to it. Only part that I have seen missing in fact is one screw out of the three on the stock airbox

Especially if you still have the plate restricter in. With my SR, I had weight flat spots and belt wear (belt should be here tomorrow) yet I was still achieving 37mph gps.
