Re: Hard starting. Crank seal leak
Definitely leaking. My son noticed air escaping from the left side cover when cranking. Pulled cover and confirmed leaking from the seal. Will you replace that now.

Hard starting. Crank seal leak
Thanks in advance for the help. 86 spree. 90 psi compression. Hard to start but when it does it will run fine for a minute or so. The starts to rev and stalls. Cleaned carb thoroughly. Air box in place. Have noticed an oily leak on the left case. Looks like crank seal. Would that cause the issues?

Any experience w/ BIS nitrous kit?
I have an 85 spree w/ 44mm BBK. Runs great, but lacking the power to get it up a few hills at my summer home in NH. I was wondering if any one has tried Boost Induction Systems nitrous kit. For the few times a month that I would need the extra power it seems like a viable option. Just wondering if i...

Re: 44mm BBK Tuning help
Thanks Wheelman. I'll give that a shot I actually lowered the needle in hopes of leaning it out, thinking it was rich. Appreciate the feedback.

44mm BBK Tuning help
OK I bought the 44mm BBK from Taz. Stock intake and exhaust, 90 main jet and 5-0.50" holes in the lid of the stock air box. Starts right up and runs fairly well. Problem occurs around 1/2 throttle. It starts to bog. When I back off the throttle a bit the revs pick up. Spoke to Taz and he recomm...

Re: 44mm or 48mm BBK
So I bought the 44mm kit from Taz. Installed the jet that came with the kit and drilled 5 1/2" holes in the filter box top. Everything went together well and it fired right up. Have about 1/2 hour of run time on it now. I didnt change the a/f adjustment on the carb from where it was with the st...

Re: Reeds good vs bad
I took the cage apart and tweaked the open reed to lay flat. Put it back together and it fired right up. As you mentioned I dont think it was enough to be a problem anyways it was running fine when i took it apart. The 44mm BBK sounds good! Cant wait to take it for a ride.

Reeds good vs bad
Im in the process of installing the 44mm BBK and noticed during disassembly that one of the reeds was not fully closed. There is a slight gap, enough that you can see light shine through. Is there any tolerance on this? ie max gap. Any recommendations on source for replacing if necessary? Thanks in ...

Re: Cold Start Woes
I have the exact problem with mine. I have thoroughly cleaned carb and replaced bystarter. The last thing I checked was the compression. Mine max's at 90psi. I was looking for more power so i recentlty bought the 44mm BBK. I will know soon enough if there is another problem. Anyone know what the low...

Re: 44mm or 48mm BBK
I have no interest in increasing speed, just need a little more power to pull my butt up the hills of NH during the beer runs to the corner store. I think the 44mm is probably the best option for me.

Fastplastic, Why do you recommend the 44mm and not the 48?

44mm or 48mm BBK
I have an 85 Spree, compression on the low side 90psi. I have been considerng a BBK. Have emailed Taz back and forth on the kits, super helpful. But like all my research I like to hear from other customers as well. My spree is clean and reliable, would like to keep it that way. That said I use is at...
