sometimes you can free up the float by rapping on the side of the carb with a rubber hammer and don't have to take it apart. If that doesnt work clean the carb and you should be fine

when I first got my #1 spree I had the same thing -trace your wire coming from + side of battery after pulling side cover -there is a 7 amp fuse about 4 inches from battery-my holder was corroded and I just replaced it for $2.50 -she started right up.Your hint is no power to taillight.

Just found a 1984 Spree with 141 original miles

What a find, and from a little old lady no less. It looks totally mint, stored indoors. I'm going to squirt some oil down the spark plug hole and let sit for a couple days before trying to start. It was last ridden in 1999. Any thing else besides changing gas and cleaning carb before starting? Want t...

Initial smoke is from the carb cleaner and starting fluid -run it a while and see if it evens out.If the spree hasen't been run for a few months it wouldn't suprise me to see a lot of smoke for a few miles. That happens in cars quite often.

How about a blurb when taillight does not lite when key placed in on position, and no response when you push starter button. Check fuse below positive post on battery . Might be blown ,or in my case on a non-starting bike I picked up the fuse holder was broken,so I just replaced it with an updated in...
