Re: Why no aftermarket Spree exhaust?
That's exactly my thoughts Taz. I don't want to do an engine swap because honestly if I wanted to go 45+ on a scooter, it wouldn't be on a Spree. I'm just looking to get enough speed out of it so I can ride it from my remote neighborhood into town without getting run over. All I need to accomplish t...

Re: Moved reed debate. Can you teach a old bear new tricks?
Think about it. If a motor will run with no reeds at WOT, then if the reeds are there and actually close, they will interfere with the air flow. If the motor will run without them, if they close and stop the air flow, it is just going to hinder the engine making power by diminishing the airflow int...

Re: Moved reed debate. Can you teach a old bear new tricks?
Jesus, never heard of inertia? I am familiar with Newtonian physics and the first law of motion. However, you said fluid dynamics says it's impossible for the air mixture to stop and start that fast. I'm just wondering what theorem of fluid dynamics you are referring to. If you could show your math...

Proof butthead, either visual or scientific. Your opinion is worthless as always. Oh and a phone tech guys opinion is as worthwhile as ego king. Fluid dynamics says it impossible to stop the fuel and air mixture that fast. Mmmmm.... Proof goes both ways. How's about educating us on this law of flui...

Why no aftermarket Spree exhaust?
How come no one has made a bolt on exhaust for the Spree yet? I was reading through some of the post archives and saw Taz was working on one, but haven't seen anything yet. It seems like there would be a decent market for it since no one makes them for the Spree. Just curious. Until then, I've decid...

Re: This is what you get when you try to be nice to SpreeMad
does everyone in Hawaii type like a retard, or just these guys ? Type like they talk, pidgin English. Some of my relatives in the islands talk like that too. Here in CA on some of the car forums, there's a lot of type-like-you-talk members. It sucks because in the East Bay "ghetto" is the...

Re: How do you handle insurance for multiple mopeds?
Here in CA my Spree is registered as a moped so no insurance or yearly registration fee is required.
Look for motorcycle only insurance companies and ask if they give discounts on multiple vehicles.

Is the inside of the gas tank coated in vinyl?
I decided to pull the sending unit out of my gas tank to figure out why it wasn't working. To my surprise, I couldn't get it out. It felt as if the float was stuck/wedged in the tank and I could only move the sender 2mm in any direction. I got a flexible LED light and a small mirror and found the fl...

He probably wants it back because of the pound of meth stashed in the gas tank.

Re: Re: I want to hit 35mph, will this combo get me there?
1. skip the pulley mod, and buy gears instead. 2. the sb50 intake and cf reed will do you no good if you do not port the intake opening on the block. 3. this should help. run premium gas if your new comp reads over 120psi. 4. find a sb50 exhaust and rear shock. the elite e exhaust is less restricti...

Yeah, I saw that thread. I wanted to avoid grinding on the jug if possible, but if it's required, I guess I could bust out the dremel. I'd like to do bolt-on's first though.

I want to hit 35mph, will this combo get me there?
So I did some high speed tests on the Spree today. It's a bone stock '85 with 39xx miles (tested at 110psi) with 2.75x10's front and rear. Using the speedometer on the Car Performance app on my droid, I averaged 26mph, with one high speed run of 28.2mph. The GPS seemed to be spot on to the bike spee...

Re: Re: Scooter wont run up hill
I do have an airbox. No filter in the airbox. When i bought the scooter it ran perfect and since an oil change it has not. I have heard cleaning the carb does help. Would nOt having a air filter really matter that much?... I have been running the scooter for about two weeks without one. Oil change ...

Re: is 85 spree is moped type in CA?
I've got an '85 Spree that's reg'd as a moped here in CA. Just did the paperwork at the DMV to transfer into my name with no title the other day. It cost me a whopping $18.
