Re: the BEAR should be banned

I'm on a lot of forums, cars, motorcycles, guns, etc. From what I've read of Bear's posts, he's pretty tame to some of the stuff I've read.

To the OP, if you plan on being on the Internet, you need a thick skin. The Internet is serious business.

Meter polarity is important.
Yeah, I've tried it every which way from Sunday and can't get anything to register. I've got a new CDI on order, so hopefully that's the issue.

Re: No spark on '85 Spree

Thanks for the guide. Either I'm a complete dunderhead and am not testing it right, or the CDI is completely shot. I can't get a reading on anything. I tried two different meters and can't register anything through the pins. Hopefully it's the CDI that's the issue.

No spark on '85 Spree

I've got no spark on my new to me Spree. The previous owner never had it running as it never had spark either. I read the manual and here's my readings: Measured at the CDI plug Primary coil - Factory specs .1-.3╬® - My reading .9╬® Secondary coil - Factory specs 7.4k-11k╬® - My reading 9.1k╬® Alter...

Re: Is this bystarter bad?

Well the first time I took this thing apart I realized the last person who took it apart assembled it wrong. The I proceeded to assemble it not quite right a couple more times. I finally got the main element seated correctly in the cap and it works fine. Yay!

Re: 1988 Honda Spree

I just picked up a spree project too. There are a few people on this board selling good used parts so finding what you need shouldn't be a problem.

Re: Is this bystarter bad?

did you screw the housings together until they were tight? If so yeah the needle is hanging to low and will close off the enrichment holes for cold starts. there should only be about 1 centimeter of brass barrel protruding from the housing I didn't do anything to it other than remove it from the ca...

Is this bystarter bad?

Looking at the wiki how-to on reassembling it, it looks like the needle is hanging way too low. Can these be rebuilt or just buy a new one?

Re: so I decided to get rid of the air box

Tape up the filter so only a tiny bit of air can get through. There will be tape on 95% of the filter when done right. Can't tell if trolling or serious.... I'm new to scoots, but have been around motorcycles for a while now. Motorcycle engines are very finely balanced when it comes ...

New Spree owner, checking in!

I'm the proud owner of an '86 Spree! It's been sitting in my buddy's brother's garage for long enough for him to sell it to me for $50. It's a bit rough and currently doesn't run. He replaced the CDI and wiring harness, but that didn't fix it and I think he gave up on it. I'm pretty sure it's going ...
