Re: Hello all new to the forum [oil advice]
just be sure the oil you choose is intended for Air-Cooled engines with oil injection. Some stuff is designed for Premix only. Thats a good answer. I'll add to it: Only use motorcycle oils. The 2 stroke oils at the nearby discount stores for other uses are not very good quality. I have used Spectro...

Re: Cylinder Honing
Ball and flex hones are NOT the proper tool for the job. They will "roughen" a surface but they dont do what you need most- Make the cylinder round again. This is the right sort of tool for the job- http://i451.photobucket.com/albums/qq233/psmak/cars/hone_zpsc594a184.jpg They do come in mu...

Thats why the washer is there. Dont try to out-think the Japanese.curtis966 wrote:Also without the washer you could be hitting the splines when torquing the bolt.
I'm not really sure what you are "stripping" though.

Re: Underpowered spree Needs a new top end?
Good job Pat for covering everything!
When I started repairs on my Spree it had obvious compression problems. When I pulled the piston the rings were worn badly. I installed a fresh piston kit and that solved the problem. Pulling the top end off is your next step seabass.

Radiator hose is NOT resistant to solvents.
Fuel hose is. Try getting the hose that connects the filler pipe to the fuel tank. That formula will last MUCH longer.

Re: Honda Spree Underpowered after carb rebuild.
I did all the things you are doing or about to do, I just did them faster because I am familiar with motorcycle engines and carbs. Mine ran like crap too, but I already knew thew compression was low. (barely blew my finger off the spark plug hole when cranked) New piston changed that in a BIG way. T...

The dealers around me are nasty, so I dont patronize them. I figured someone had a good online place.
I also searched for belts and 3 pages only talked about what DIDNT work! Previously I read only the stock belt works very well.
Thanks for your reply though.

Then its time to get one! Even a cheap Harbor Fright tool will pull that bearing off without causing damage.curtis966 wrote: I don't have a gear puller or a press tho but thanks for the advise

Re: Engine gasket installation
I have never used ANY sort of sealer/oil on any gasket on a Japanese engine. Any gasket I have installed and had to take apart later came off easily, usually with no damage. I think since you may have been the first one to remove those gaskets after 25 years, they were hard and stuck to the surface,...

Mouth vacuum is enough to get the fuel to flow. 10 seconds is more than enough to get enough fuel in the float bowl.
