Re: Noob with an '85 Gyro

The one I found was under an oak tree in the California hills for about 12 years. Just out there, all alone, waiting for someone to pull it back from the edge of the cliff. The engine in mine was seized up solid and full of all sorts of vegetable compost, and the switches and controls were damp and ...

Re: Gyro - general thread

My Gyro has a lean, but not a loan. Maybe it's different in New Zealand.

Re: Honda Gyro X score. Need a piston!

I think the bore and stroke for an Aero 50 (NB50) is the same at 40.0 x 39.3. That piston is 13101-GN1-671, and there was an A piston as 13102-GN1-671 and a B piston as 13103-GN1-671. I can't tell you I know any more than that. Good luck. I found an Ebay ad for someone selling Wiseco pistons with a ...

Re: Honda Gyro X score. Need a piston!

If you are thinking of buying a new piston, maybe you can buy something with a bigger bore and get your cylinder bored out to fit. I put a 44 mm piston and rings I got from Tazland into my 85 Gyro, by having the cylinder opened up. There was plenty of metal to go that big. Check it out. There's no s...

Re: 87 Spree Carb Problems

If you want that engine to run you need to get a new cylinder, piston, rings and pin, or you can get an oversize piston from taz and get the cylinder bored out to 44mm. What you have won't run.

Re: Gyro - general thread

It will corner great, but at 9 mph so would your lawn tractor. The rolling resistance from a tire that wide should be a big challenge for your 50cc firebreather. But it'll float nice when you fall through the ice.

Re: Help with the MB5! PLEEEEASE!

I've had a lot of trouble running small engines without an airbox. It just gets too lean. I'll bet if you put a finger over part of the air intake you can get it to run well without the choke. It's just too lean, and changing the jets will help above midrange, but at lows revs the pilot jet is just ...

Re: What kind of Helmet should I wear?

It doesn't matter whether you ride a Spree or a Hayabusa or a Harley cruiser. Once you are headed for the ground, it's just you and gravity. If you have ever done a face plant you'll wear a full face helmet. You can see fine, and you can easily find one that lets you wear glasses.

Re: Gyro - general thread

Finally got the old Gyro running pretty well. I had to open up the main jet a little, to .85, with the overbored cylinder and 44mm piston I got from Taz. Now it starts right up, and runs pretty well. Unfortunately, I live up a long, steep hill in California, and getting up here is a challenge for th...

Re: I need some advice

I looked at your craigslist, and saw this Honda Elite 80 for sale, registered and running, at http://flint.craigslist.org/mcy/3328858869.html . Unfortunately, it's far away. In my view, an 80 cc Elite should be fast enough for you, it has a variator (CVT) and the engine is a 4 cycle. I know this is ...

Re: Gyro - general thread

Hey, if it wasn't for stupid mistakes, there wouldn't be any mistakes at all. My gyro runs, but it still isn't right. It shifts into high gear way too soon, bogs downs and takes forever to get up to speed. I'm thinking the springs on the centrifugal clutch for high range are weak (or one is broken),...

Re: Gyro - general thread

I found a Gyro about a year ago, and took it home to bring it back to life. It was mostly there but the engine was seized and the whole machine was covered in rotting leaves, sitting out under a tree in California for 10 years. So, lots of work and a bunch of parts and I got it together enough to st...
