Re: First ride of the season.

Had a beautiful chance to ride Wednesday, but the darn doc`s appointment took some wind out of my sails.
We had 43 mile an hour gusts, with a 20 mph average. I saw one of my hens lay the same egg three times! :surprise:
Better days a comin`......

Re: Help a fool spend his money!

Well, it sounds like 8.44`s are going to to it. I`ll get those ordered up tonight. I`m curious as to what jets will come with the PE. I`ll post the stats when it gets here, and hopefully you guys will be kind enough to get me in the ball park. I know I set a little higher than some of you folks (719...

Re: Help a fool spend his money!

I`m setting a little lower in the saddle today, as the wallet has thinned out considerably. In the last 12 hours or so, I`ve parted with $487 of my Yankee green backs for a V8 pipe, nikasil jug kit, PE 24 carb/air cleaner/cable, clutch spring, oil pump plug, and a variator with three sets of rollers...

Re: `88 SB50P: Let the rehab begin!

Couldn`t resist adding two more little details. The stock air box just looked too plain Jane, so I added some stripes.

The rear of the top case was screaming for something, so I added this.

Re: Help a fool spend his money!

Are the 8.44`s a good compromise between top end and acceleration for the nikasil and the PE24/V8 combo, or should I go taller?

Sorry about all the questions, but this is my first preformance build, and I know it`s old hat for you guys.

Re: Help a fool spend his money!

Hey, I`ve blown bigger money on dumber stuff.......but I ain`t gonna say what or where! :naughty: Quick gear question: The 8.44 gears are the same as 17-41`s, right? I can tell, by the end of the week, I`ll be walking taller, `cause my wallet will be a lot lighter. Ah, well. I never planned on dyin`...

Re: Help a fool spend his money!

Took a small kick to the wallet tonight and bought a V8 pipe for $142, shipped. Looking at a 24mm OKO PE carb/intake/throttle cable for $128 shipped. If anybody knows where I can pick one up cheaper, feel free to chime in! I paid $511 for the scooter, and I`m gonna TRY not to exceed that much for th...

Re: Help a fool spend his money!

Wheel, how easy is that manual choke to reach with the stock plastics on? I was considering the Kehin carb because it has the bystarter like the original. The OKO is a few bucks cheaper, so that`s a plus. Is there a noticeable difference between a stock pipe and the typhoon with the setup I`m going ...

Re: Help a fool spend his money!

That was with shipping and all. I`ll shop around and see if I can combine shipping with some other goodies. Evil, what size jug are you running? I`d like to run the stock airbox with the extra hole opened up. What size jets worked for you? I`m not looking to set any records, just have the fastest ar...

Re: `88 SB50P: Let the rehab begin!

Did the upholstery by myself. No sewing involved! I bought some four way stretch Lycra material off of ebay, and with the help of several pony clamps, much cursing and re-clamping, and some 3/8" staples, she went on without a wrinkle. The stuff was made for bathing suits, so I don`t think a lit...

I scotch taped the Honda logo on in the one pic so I could pull it back off before the final wet sanding/buffing.

God help me, but I`m thinking about picking up an`87 SE50. Rehabbing these little buggers is addicting.
