Re: `88 SB50P clutch rehab

No ideas, huh? Could a guy use a Spree clutch to replace the elite clutch? I took the one of my `87 and it fit the spline, the only difference being the Spree clutch has three shoes and the Elite`s has two.

`88 SB50P clutch rehab

Started on my Elite a few days ago. Pulled the clutch to replace the belt and found the shoes to be setting at a weird angle. 016.JPG Upon disassembly, I found the rubber shocks to be shot (no biggie, they can be had), and the shoes (?) with the holes that fit over the studs to be egg shaped (biggie...

Re: Fubared a cable

SWEET! That`ll save me from slashing my wrists with a dull butter knife. I`m used to finding fubared parts on old machines, but I hate it when I`m the one that fubared it!

Just goes to show, you`re never too old to do something stupid........ :nerd:

Re: Fubared a cable

Took some measurements, and came up with: Overall length= 67" Ferrule to ferrule= 61.5" Brake hub ferrule dia.=.365 Control ferrule dia.= .350 Bear, what does "TBD" mean in the ferrule diameter column? If it`s a little larger or smaller than what I need, I can make it work. Some ...

Fubared a cable

Anybody have a clue as to what rear brake cable will interchange with the one I screwed up on my `88 Elite SB50? That bugger is L-O-N-G! End to end, it`s 67 inches long (or was). That`ll teach me to work in low light conditions and run out of WD40. :(

Re: `87 Spree

It was kinda like a jigsaw puzzle. Most all the pieces were there, but not all. First, I cleaned the nasty little bugger. Then I glued it back together with universal pipe cement. Looked great until I picked it up, and then it promptly broke all to * again. Bought a 12X12X1/8th inch piece of ABS off...

Re: `87 Spree

Yikes! Thanks for the heads up! Doubt she`ll ever be in a show, but I`d sure hate to get crap in the carb that I spent time cleaning.
What do you guys use? Surgical tubing?

Re: `87 Spree

Believe it or not, the inside of the tank was spotless when I bought it! I was going to replace the lines, but I can`t find a crack anywhere in `em, and after a little toothbrush and dish soap, they came out looking close to new. This one`s going back box stock, but I plan on tricking out the `88 El...

Re: `87 Spree

Might get around to it, but if I don`t, it`s no big yank. She`ll spend the winter on the stand, in the living room, where I can admire the fruits of my labor. If I put gas and tranny oil in her, she`ll be staying out in the garage with the other scooters. I`ve got a really understanding wife, but I`...

Re: `87 Spree

Really happy with the way the side cover turned out. The thing seriously looked like someone had surfed with it down a paved road. I took the heaviest grit sanding drum that Dremel makes and got rid of the deep gouges, then wire wheeled the whole thing. 100 grit next, followed by 220. Figured I`d pa...

Re: OEM Spree battery terminals

Great price and a kind offer, but other than the battery terminals, the harness is fine. She`s been lovingly cleaned and reinstalled. Guess I`ll grab some scrap metal I`ve got laying around and make my own. Takes awhile, but isn`t really that hard to do. Wonder if I`d be better off making them out o...

OEM Spree battery terminals

Anybody know where you can find `em? I`ve Ebay`ed and Goolge`d my fingers raw, and came up with zip. Figured you guys would know if anybody would.

I know plain jane ring terminals would work, but I`m tryin` to make this little scooter look as factory original as possible.
