84 honda spree pump failure - fried rings/scored cyl+piston
I have an 84 Honda spree which seems to have committed suicide. The last few rides it started running strange and on the very last ride it went from making a strange noise every now and then to nothing but horrible noises. It never occurred to me until the top end was trashed to check the oil lines ...

Re: changed gear oil now electric start clanks!! (94 SR)
Slather some grease on the pinion gear teeth that mate up with the starter gear on the crankshaft, enough grease to fill between the teeth should be sufficient. The tube that bear was talking about is located on the rear of the engine coming out of the right side (tire side) of the transmission case...

Re: changed gear oil now electric start clanks!! (94 SR)
Mine did the same thing when I got it, I opened the side case and it was covered in rubber dust from the belt. I think the lack of grease on my starter pinion and all the filth was the ultimate cause of the pinion not mating with the starter gear properly, thus making the CLANK! Also I drained the g...

Re: NQ50 Crank removal - stuck bearing in left crankcase
Dont think that eyeballing a crank will suffice to check if its been damaged or not. Get someone with a crank truing fixture and have them check it for you. Theres plenty of people in MI that still know two-strokes. But at what cost? Ive seen "good" cranks on ebay for under a bill, if I c...

Re: NQ50 Crank removal - stuck bearing in left crankcase
update... again... I did a ghetto runout of the crankshaft with a steel ruler that has very very small increments, and I think I dodged a bullet on this one, everything looks pretty darn strait. I did look at the parts fiche and I found a very interesting detail. The original 1985 spree crankshaft w...

Re: NQ50 Crank removal - stuck bearing in left crankcase
Ok, update... I DID manage to get the crank out, however I managed to drop it on the concrete floot, I used a punch and a hammer not to damage the threads, however I dont think that matters anymore, it all looks alright, however there is small buff on the counter weight where it landed on the concre...
