Re: What not to do when installing a BBK
is this ok to do, or should I get a new one!? Always use new clips, they can get be bent and loose tension when removed. A clip gone loose is an expensive failure. Yes... I reused a old wrist pin retainer last year, figuring I'd deal with the consequences if it was compromised. Today my bike stoppe...

Malossi clutch springs
Hi all.
Any experience with using Malossi clutch shoe springs on an AF05? I don't see a specific part number for the AF05 in the Malossi book.

Re: Slow takeoff recommendations.
Thank you all. I placed a spark plug washer in between the boss and the outer sheave and it picked up quite a bit. It's still not perfectly where I want it, but it is rideable once again. (it was dangerously slow pulling into moving traffic before.) I'm hesitant to try adding anything thicker just b...

Slow takeoff recommendations.
Hi all... 86 Aero 50... stock AF05E. Leo Vince SP3, Ruckus Variator w/ brand new 5.7? gram weights, unknown weight center spring (White spring for a Ruckus) I just swapped to the Ruck vario to address a problem I had with my DDX (The center sleeve was loose in the variator)... everything seems great...

Re: Uneven Acceleration
Looks like the bushing was the culprit. I was checking bushing vs drive boss play when i said there wasnt an issue. Not bushing to Variator slop. About a week ago I found that one of the bearings in my motor was toast. Swapped them out and started riding again. Still had the weird inconsistent accel...

Re: speedo not working ?
There is a phillips head screw on the front hub that holds the speedo cable in... make sure that it didn't back out allowing the cable to slide back and out of contact.

Re: Dr. Pulley slider knock-offs
Great link! This is a good way to save 10-12 dollars and support a Chinese copy of a product that takes money away from the American scooter parts industry. Looks like a winner to me.

Re: Uneven Acceleration
Checked the Variator against my stock one and saw no more play in the DDX. Pulled apart the drive pulley and measured the spring, the service manual calls for an 88.8mm service limit on the spring and it measured out at over 90 ony calipers. Cleaned out and re greased the shaft that the movable shea...

Re: Uneven Acceleration
Well, what's the roller weight? You want some more weight if it's spinning and going nowhere. Also, What is rpm rating of the center spring in the clutch? Rollers are 7 gram. (42 total grams of weight). Contra spring is stock. When the bike gets up to 7500 RPM, it does great... it just seems to fal...

Re: Uneven Acceleration
Ok... so I've changed the rollers out to a brand new set, tried dropping my jet from a 90 to an 88 in case what I was really noticing was 4 stroking and retuned. (added a tach as well) The issue is still happening. Here is what I notice. If I'm stopped for a while, or the bike isn't completely warme...

Not premixing...bonesv wrote:Good on the rollers, give it a try. That 90 main jet sounds a little rich, are you pre-mixing your fuel?
Was running an 88 and found the plug to be a tad lighter in color than I liked to see, and was seeing CHT (on a TTO) around 375+ on a mile plus WOT run.

Re: Uneven Acceleration
You have 6.7g. rollers in a DDX vario. Nice L/V pipe and a 90 main jet. Otherwise stock AF05. First try the heavier rollers. If it makes it worse, put the 6.7g. rollers back in and use a stiffer contra spring. This is assuming that your motor is running in tip-top shape. If there are other mods you...
