Starts, then dies -- you might take that carb off and double check that the idle jet is open. Its a really small hole in there. Since putting your hand over the carb didn't help, but priming does, it still could be a fuel problem > whats a good bypass...hot wire for a 85 with no kick start ............

Chevyguyjay - I was looking into the seals. Found some online catalogs with offerings in the correct size. There's different seal materials - Buna-N, Viton, Silicone..... and I don't know what's needed. Would you mind asking the bearing folks what material is used in the seals they recommend? Thanks...

Re: Pulling flywheels There are pullers designed specifically for the flywheel. Take a look at your flywheel, there is an internal thread just outside the nut in the center of the flywheel. The puller threads into that, then a screw tightens down to push the flywheel off the crank. It's a more robus...

Yeah, maybe there was nitro in the fuel, but mostly I recall model airplane diesel fuel mix as basically ether/kerosene/castor oil. Smelly stuff! Old time modelers had their dope fumes, airplane glue and diesel fuel to sniff. :). Also, airplane diesels had screw on the head to raise/lower compressio...

Hi, After reading in this thread that some shop in HI had the parts, I tried VTCycles for the 2mm piston and cyl boring, they said they have no source for the part. Anyone got the shop name or a source of the 2mm overbore piston? I'd be happy to get the work done for a Gyro and report back. If you f...

There is a fuse inline with the battery harness wiring. Check it, it might be blown now. If the part that smoked has a finned aluminum heatsink, that's your regulator. Its directly in the path of a reversed battery so is a likely candidate for damage. Give it a sniff test, does it have a lingering s...

A supercharger in your Spree will not generate much additional pressure in the cylinder. The exhaust port is open longer than the intake. Extra air blown in, will blow out the exhaust.

Pulse generator pickup is the timing signal input to the CDI. On its signal the CDI will discharge to the coil and generate a spark.

Hi Nick,
I'm a fairly new member too. Tons of good info here!

There's a wiring diagram in the Spree service manual under technical documents.

Oil can leak past the pump driveshaft seal into the crankcase. -- There's some recent messages on this board about seal replacement. The seal is not a part that Honda sells alone. Check under Performance Technical section, subject 'Can it be rebuilt' It also is possible for the pump to slowly leak o...

Yes, personally, if a part is not stock paint, I'd perfer the seller identify it. If its got rust covered over with paint I want to know that too! If you want to challenge the seller - you should. I add in a geographic bias to the rust matter and bid less. Folks in the rust bucket states can honestl...

SB50 is better.

If you haven't already, search for SB50 on this site and check out the work everyone has accomplished. Noiseguy posted a message with nice pics for improving the Spree intake with SB50 parts.
