Re: 02 Yamaha Vino

My mistake, the Vino is a 2 cycle. I have read about removing a washer between the variator clutch and grinding out the exhaust pipe restrictor. I was cautioned however that the washer removal may make the belt too tight to start. I also heard the vino has the same motor as the zuma, and a friend wi...

Re: Missing apron decal

Thanks, Pat. My drinkin' buddy works for a sign company and mentioned the graphics lady may be able to hook me up. Just didn't know if anyone on here had fooled around with these already and might be willing to sell the one label......Btw, the wife has released the funds for my top end kit on my Spe...

Missing apron decal

I am missing the small "Spree/honda" sticker on the front apron of my 84 (old script) Iowa white spree. Looking around a little bit, I've come up with only complete sticker kits, which I don't need. Can anyone steer me in the direction of someone who may make this one individual decal I am...

Re: 86 spree won't run

I had success with grinding the gear off the pump and running that way with it still in place, but toothless. TrafficJamz explained it to me as necessary to leave the mechanism in to "stuff" the crankcase. Use a side grinder-real easy, plus you gain a wee bit of power not dragging the oil ...

Re: Hard starting spree solution.

All I know is my, and numerous other customers with sprees have griped about their machine not starting after not riding for a few days, and this fix seems to be the magic arrow. I hope some of ya'll without the ability to buy a new bi~starter find this helpful. CAN anyone tell me if the bystarters ...

Re: Hard starting spree solution.

I had enough pieces of bystarter to plug the hole up. The inner plunger needle thingy was mangled. I'm guessing the aftermarket chinese bystarters on ebay are good performers? I still may leave the primer on this one, kind of my "pickup truck".

Re: Hard starting spree solution.

Here's some photos I took of primer retrofit to spree carb. I am just tickled with how well this works. These primers can be had from any tecumseh 2 or 4 stroke snowblower. Be sure it has the hole in the center for proper carb ventilation. Mounting on the outside of bike is convenient, two quick jab...

Re: Hard starting spree solution.

Yes, tomorrow I'll take a pic and post it. Nice solution. Known several of these that were iffy starters. No mods necessary.

Hard starting spree solution.

Working on my 84 Iowa today I discovered someone ripped the bystarter apart when the needle stuck in the cup. I gotta find a new one. Anyway, eager to ride I took a primer bulb off a tecumseh-engined snowblower (black with hole in the center) and plugged it onto the top nipple of the carb (the vent ...

Re: 86 spree won't run

On a different note, the bystarter in my 84 spree was stuck and pulled apart by someone else. I believe there are parts missing and I see broken stuff. Do the bystarters on ebay aftermarket work okay? I need one!!!!

Honda Spree Floorboard

I have a white Iowa Spree, and I want to paint the floorboard tread black. I DO Not want to replace with a black board. Has anyone tried rattle-can spray on bedliner for this, or have any other suggestions?

Re: 86 spree won't run

I'll look into doing that soon. Got plenty of pics. What part of MI do you call home? Ever been to the Ann Arbor Old School Minibike show in April? I've brought both bikes there. Won Best-in-class last year with the "woodie".

Re: 86 spree won't run

Yessir, it is a homemade bike all of wood. Plywood frame, steam bent cedar body. Hand stitched seat. It is powered by a c. 1988 Toro GTS (Suzuki built) 5 hp vertical crank push mower engine. A twisted belt runs to a jackshaft with centrifugal clutch with belt drive to the rear rim. Does about 35 mph...

Re: 86 spree won't run

In two days time I have a spot on the floor about the size of a business card. It is indeed a very slow drip. I noticed when I ran it last week however it seemed to give intermittent heavy puffs of smoky exhaust every few seconds while "pegged". This after the 10 minute colossal cloud. Wha...
