d*** that engine is pretty!

I went through 2 Goodyear belts back to back. They would rub the bump to the rear of the driven pulley and shred.

I went back to the stock Honda belt and have had zero issues. Stick with the stock belt.

That's a fantastic concept! Would be perfect with a CVT power unit on it.

If you do the conversion take lots of pics an start a thread in the build section!

I've got a gy6 engine sitting. I would love to see the mods required to get that engine on a spree!

Is the air screw on the carb adjusted properly? Seems like fuel is not flowing through the carb. Clean it again, paying particular attention to the idle circuit. Is the bystarter good?

Disconnect the vacuum hose and fuel hose at the carb ends. Put the end of the fuel hose in a cup. Suck on the end of the vacuum hose. Fuel should flow when you apply vacuum on the vacuum line. If fuel doesn't flow the vacuum valve on the bottom of the fuel tank may be bad OR... The fuel filter/fuel ...

Is the fuel vacuum valve flowing fuel with vacuum applied? Pull the spark plug out leaving it connected, turn over the engine. Do you see a spark?

Make sure the engine kill switch is in the run position. One of the brake levers must be pulled in to close the ignition circuit when starting.

I have a lead on a 2001 Elite SR. It turns over. Missing airbox. No battery. Other than that, bodywork is in decent shape. What's a reasonable price?

Just * you indicate no air box lid. Sprees do not run well if at all without a sealed airbox.

HeadLight won't work unless the engine is running. It operates directly off the stator.

Also check the starter relay. Also, the brake levers have switch on them that will keep the bike from starting unless the brakes are activated.

Nothing has been done to any thing on the engine since it was on the 86 wiring and running fine.

My next step, I guess, is to put it back on the 86 spree and see if it runs fine or runs backwards. I'm wondering if there has been something odd done to the 86 wiring by the previous owner.

Yes I am very well aware that the final drive reverses the direction. The wheel drives backwards. I pulled my timing light out and checked timing as it ran backwards with the 85 cdi and the timing looks spot on. Interesting discovery. I pulled the stock 85 Cdi off and plugged in the cdi that was on ...

I'm positive. The engine is running the wrong direction.
