Re: 2001 Honda elite 50 already does 40 mph Check this post out

My 2000 already did around 40mph when I bought it too. It was derestricted already. Sounds like it is running fine to me. Before I upgraded my bore I changed just the variator on mine and was able to get up to around 45mph. I rode it like this for a year, sometimes at WOT for over an hour at a time ...

Re: Pod Filter Problem

Your absolutely correct regarding the PG pipe paired with the stock carb. I tried it out before I installed the OKO 28 and I couldn't get the thing to accel at all. It would idle, then die out immediately, no matter what jet I tried.

Re: Pod Filter Problem

You are correct on the part about being "off" on the jetting. I went from a 45 pilot to a 39 and immediately had backfires. Changing the sparkplug has fixed the problem. I rode it around for an hour today and there were no problems at all.

Re: Pod Filter Problem

I definately experienced a lean backfire out the muffler, not the carb. It was lean because I down jetted to see if it solved the problem. It did not, so I put the original jets back in. Modern 4-stroke fuel injected engines turn off the injectors during decel to prevent lean backfires and a popping...

Re: Pod Filter Problem

I changed the sparkplug to the other new 6 that I had (2 pack) and the misfires are gone and all is well again. The plug I took out looked fine, but was misfiring horribly. I'll get
an 8 tomorrow, and hopefully it won't get fouled up.

Re: Pod Filter Problem

is it a misfire or stutter at wot?meaning does the engine cut in and out at wot?check to see if the ground cable is loose that comes from the stator because that will cause the misfire too(green wire). Will do. It was definately misfiring today. Backfiring out the back of the muffler. Almost like t...

Re: Pod Filter Problem

I will change the plug to an 8 tomorrow. I am getting misfiring again. I tried a smaller main jet, and it got noticeably worse. Violent backfires out the back. Pretty much wouldn't move at all. I redrilled my other 132 jet to a 141, and the misfires were still present. This is all with a brand new 6...

Re: Pod Filter Problem

The average ambient temperature here in Vancouver right now is between 20-35 degrees celcius. 20 degrees at night, and in the 30s during the day. This is at sea level too. I am currently running an NGK BR6HS plug. I have been running 6's for a while now without a problem. I was riding the scooter pr...

Re: Pod Filter Problem

A new foam airfilter has seemed to fix the problem. Runs exactly as it used to.

Re: How To Build A Fast Elite! Build and Tune info (56k beware)

Where do you have your CHT probe mounted on your head? I have the koso CHT sparkplug adapter mounted with mine and the highest I've ever seen in years is 127 degree C (260F). I run a 132 main and 48 pilot in my OKO 28mm. I am curious to know if I am running far too rich, or we are measuring in diffe...

Re: Pod Filter Problem

Well, something changed and a partially plugged passage in the carb is next to impossible to see, if at all. You need to squirt either carb cleaner or WD-40 thru all the passages to make sure they are clear. The exhaust is easy to see if you pull it off, but just assuming it is clear proves nothing...

Re: Pod Filter Problem

As strange as it sounds I would expect the exhaust to be partially plugged or you have a carburator issue causeing the motor to be lean. I have looked at the carb carefully, and everything seems to be fine. The float measured out to 19mm-20mm and moves freely within the chamber. I can't find any va...

Re: Pod Filter Problem

did you let it dry out good before you put it back on?if its wet still it will bogg the carb like how you explained. It sat for a few hours, and I blow dried it. It definately wasn't wet when I tried it out again. Just to clarify though, it bogged the scooter down before I washed it too. I'm reluct...

Re: Pod Filter Problem

Well, it is obviously the filter is choking the motor. Either get different filter that does not restrict the air flow as much or lean the carb out so the engine will run with that filter. True, this is obvious, but what I want to know is what could have changed? As I said this combo has worked for...

Pod Filter Problem

Hi, I have a 2000 Dio with the mods listed in my signature. The problem is that the scooter bogs down and won't accelerate if the filter is installed. If you remove the filter, the scooter drives perfectly fine. Throttle response is crisp, and it drives absolutely perfect. I have been running this s...
