Re: HI, I'm new, and this is my 1983 Aero project.

As of now, I'm not working on this Honda. I have restored 2 other scoots instead, complete with all new OEM bodywork. Honestly, people selling parts for these just want too much for it. I'm not into spending 2000-2500 us$ and end up with something I can sell for $500. If I ever find a parts bike tha...

Re: issues with fresh MHR dio build

I had a similar issue with one of my scooters, had just put on a new cylinder kit and got metallic clanking sound at idle. Thought the engine was self destructing. If I revved it a little it went away somewhat, sometimes totally. Turned out the variator nut had come loose. Tightened it, and now runn...

Re: HI, I'm new, and this is my 1983 Aero project.

Yeah? I've been looking around a little too, http://www.ebay.com/itm/1985-1987-85-86-87-Honda-Aero-NB50M-NB-50-M-Frame-50100-GN2-670ZA-/200784098419?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&fits=Make%3AHonda&hash=item2ebfaa3473&vxp=mtr and I think I'd like $200 for it. These older aeros are gett...

Re: HI, I'm new, and this is my 1983 Aero project.

i think your 83 has a 2 bolt intake manifold ( to the block ) and the 86 has a 4 bolt manifold .. the 83 is a nonverbal motor like a spree .. What do you mean by "Non-verbal motor"? There's definatly a 4 bolt intake on this thing. I did notice that the wiki said it wasn't, just assumed it...

Re: HI, I'm new, and this is my 1983 Aero project.

That would be great! But from the one picture I see, it seems like the kickstart shaft is missing? Do you have it, or was it broken?

I can cross reference the partnumbers and see if mine would fit, as mine is ok.

Re: HI, I'm new, and this is my 1983 Aero project.

Yes! I'm definatly interested in that motor! How much do you want for it? That's within reasonable driving distance aswell. Could possibly do it within a day. Well it's a 6 and a half hour drive each way. I guess that's doable, as the other closest aero parts bikes I found was in Phoenix and Maine. ...

Re: HI, I'm new, and this is my 1983 Aero project.

Ok so I got sidetracked for a bit as I found this awsume deal on a Kymco scooter. $500 and only 53 miles on the odometer! http://i314.photobucket.com/albums/ll406/tilstad/VP1641342_2_zps4e35f1e8.jpg It didnÔÇÖt run of course, owner thought it ÔÇ£needs carbÔÇØ. As if it might be missing. Or just need...

Re: HI, I'm new, and this is my 1983 Aero project.

That thing looks like it was in much better shape than mine. Problem is I'm in Texas, shipping will make it cost too much. When I say too much, my thinking is that if you end up paying as much, or more than a brand new chinese scooter, then it's too much. THey might be crap and poorer reliability, b...

Re: HI, I'm new, and this is my 1983 Aero project.

I agree one should dissasemble before lubricating, however, I thought the crankshaft was pressed into the block/bearings so that it won't easily come out? That it needs a special puller I dont have, and might damage the bearings, atleast according to other posts on that topic on this forum. I have t...

Re: HI, I'm new, and this is my 1983 Aero project.

A working fan would be perfect! Was hoping I could atleast get the cooling together properly. But for the plastics, I think this one is not going to be "restored" to factory condition. THe floors seems to be pretty much impossible to find in repairable condition, so without that, it's some...

Re: HI, I'm new, and this is my 1983 Aero project.

Update: This is what I got today, Chinese clone carb, fuel hose, 2 stroke oil, and some universal cables to connect to the carb. http://i314.photobucket.com/albums/ll406/tilstad/P1010220_zps650f7478.jpg Well the cables didnt work out, should have known better. Hooked up a steel wire with a hand loop...

Re: HI, I'm new, and this is my 1983 Aero project.

Lol, for parts? I hardly think there's even a single part onm this thing thats in nice enough shape for anyone to want it. And honestly I was to look for another one, it would either be a -85 or newer, or a different scooter alltogether. No this one is going to have to earn it's own keep, if it can'...

HI, I'm new, and this is my 1983 Aero project.

I'll be the first one to admit the Aero is in really poor shape. I actually declined to get it at first, but as the price became as good as free, well, after some hesitation I said ok. Now, it doesn't run of course, no title, and missing all the parts you don't see in the pictures. The good: Tires n...
