Re: New gears are binding....
I should note I bought the cheapest set of 9:1 gears I could find ($45) so it wouldn't surprise me if they weren't exactly the same size. It definitely would not work with the stock washers though. Even finger tight would cause resistance...

Re: Honda Aero Will not start!
Did you remove the engine when you were working on it? How did you free it up? (what was froze?) If the plug is always wet there may be excess gas, oil, water, solvent, etc... down in the case causing it to flood or foul the plug. I would pull the plug and crank it over and see how much crap blows o...

Re: New gears are binding....
Ok so I'm an idiot. I somehow grabbed the stock smaller gear and put it in with the aftermarket gear... I should have just checked but I thought for sure I grabbed the right one. But speaking of washers there is still a small issue. The small shaft in the middle that does not have bearings on...

Re: New gears are binding....
I tried beating the shaft out (with a piece of wood over the top of it) but it wouldn't budge. Went up to my old shop and used their press. Worked like butter! Wish I would have just done that in the first place. As far as I can tell it appears to be on the shaft properly. As far as direction I'm no...

New gears are binding....
I got a set of 9:1 gears for my '98 SA50 but for some reason they are binding? I know the one I pressed on is straight but I'm having trouble getting that shaft to sit straight in the carrier bearing in the cover. I'm assuming that's what the problem is b/c it will spin fine about .5-.75 of a turn t...

Thoughts on Aero 80...?
I've ran across several of these in the last few weeks and was wondering if they're worth getting. Heard they're not much faster than the 50s. Was also curious about aftermarket parts or parts that swap from other models. Can that eng be swapped to a spree? Can the handle bars be swapped with a 50? ...

That's awesome! Usually doesn't turn out that way, specially so quickly. Hopefully they didn't trash it. Congrats on the recovery!

Re: Tire PSI
The max rating on a tire is always going to be higher than the recommend pressure. I would just set it by feel/looks. You want just a slight bulge (when sitting on scooter) so that the tire make the proper amount of contact with the ground. Too little or too much will both decrease tire life and neg...

Re: Honda spree engine swap, no weld?
That's funny because I saw that page that showed all the gear ratio's and saw it was different than all the rest but never put two & two together that that's why my se50 is the fastest out of all my hondas. (still not faster than my Jog though) Gears are next on my list though!

Re: Honda spree engine swap, no weld?
Cool. So then, case wise, any af05e will work? I have several af05 engines I just wanted to make sure they were all basically the same.

Re: Honda spree engine swap, no weld?
I have a few questions for the experts though...
All it refers to is the se50, I assume that means a engine mount from a 88-93 sa50 won't work?
Is the engine different as well? I thought the later Aero's, se50, & early sa50's all used the same af05e?

Re: Honda spree engine swap, no weld?
Well... Brake cable won't reach so you'll need a longer one. Not all engines will come with a carb. (or a rear wheel) Will be handy if it does! Kick stand will be too short after motor swap and with the larger rear wheel and tire so the scooter will fall over unless you modify it or get a bigger one...

Re: Honda elite kick starter
Not likely. Did you try priming it with gas? That's what I would do first. You need to determine if its the engine or carb issue. That will tell you.

Re: Rear Transmission Cover Problems
Just pry the seal out with a screw driver. You'll be fine. I doubt hot water will make any difference. It will still go in, it's just easier when heated. I just tap them in cold, I've never heated it to make it easier. Never had to as they always go in.
