You're right, the Img button is for inserting remotely hosted pics. I haven't been able to get the gallery working yet.

If you have pics of that pulley mod, I'll host them, as it will keep me from having to verbally explain the procedure. PM me.

The other thing to remember is that it's winter. The good deals are had when snow is on the ground, or in your case when it's 40F and raining everyday.

If want to pay a premium price for a bike, buy it in spring, and let the seller store it for you over the winter.

Unless your Spree's compression is off, requiring new rings/piston, a + .5mm piston isn't going to get you any more performance, as the displacement bump is minimal. There are scooters sold with 10" tires that will do 55 MPH. The Spree chassis isn't set up for 55 though. Even 45 would probably ...

Only problem I had with Fusion is that the paint tends to clog the plastic nozzle, and won't clean out. Plan on using the entire can at once, otherwise you'll get a flat finish on later coats. I think this paint my be discontinued; I'm seeing it at closeout prices at a lot of places. I used a commer...

Since you're increasing your ratio, you should launch slightly slower, although you gain top speed. You'll also be launching at a lower RPM, which doesn't help either.

In practice, I didn't notice a difference on launch speed. Pretty slow anyway you go.

Here you go. The last comment is sort of my take: smaller bikes cost as much to fix as larger ones, but have a lower overall value in terms of price. Both these guys own(ed) cycle shops. The authors tend to prefer larger bikes. ------------------- I purchased a used 77 GS450T (same engine) in Queens...

Looks decent. I'm still waiting to hear back from some guys on these. This is an '83 GS450E. Bodywork is a forerunner of the early fully-faired "race replicas." The shift indicator is neat. My 2 cents. $1500 was an high price for a 20+ y/o 450cc bike. $1000 is in the ballpark, but that's s...

Members need to reselect avatar

Some may have noticed that many avatars are not showing up.

For whatever reason, the directory to the avatars was moved. Everyone needs to go to Forums, click "profile," and reselect their avatar. This only affects those with standard avatars.

Dude, buy a real filter. There's no excuse for using a sock as an air filter.

Not a stupid question: No one's avatars seem to be working right now, unless they were uploaded (like mine.) I'll see if I can figure out what's wrong over the weekend.

Using kerosene for flushing is a good idea. I flush and filled the trans on this one 5-6 times. When I finally took it apart to replace a bearing, it was still full of rusty oil. Gross.

Ah, there it is. That one isn't oil-fed. You should be able to inspect that bearing with the trans disassembled.

Actually Jerry, you can run auto trans fluid in a properly designed manual. I had an '85 S-10 with a 5 speed manual, that called for auto trans fluid. The thinner oil gives better fuel economy.
