Topic: What years have interchangable parts?

My understanding is that Spree parts from 1984 to 1987 are all interchangable. Exhaust from 84-85 is different from 86-87, but interchangable. Carbs are different as well for same breakpoints, but interchangable. Some Aero 50 and Elite 50 parts of this vintage will interchange as well, but this vari...

There are motorcyclists there; I know of at least a few that are on another site that ride CB900Fs. The short riding season is actually an advantage, I would think the bikes would typically lower milage. Like in Michigan. In AZ, the miles get racked up a lot faster.

Did you ever buy anything?

My in tank filter is stuck too. My tank was rusty, and the filter was so clogged with rust that it wouldn't flow fuel. Cleaning the tank, filter in place, seems to have cleaned out the filter as well. Never did get it unstuck though. If it flows fuel, leave it alone, if not then get a new one (are t...

Call drichardson@core.com, or check ebay. You need the insulator. If I were you, I'd consider running an inline filter to your new carb. How's the tank? You're correct on the tightening spec as long as it is a brand new plug . This give the proper washer squish. Otherwise you need to measure to get ...

They make a special plastic paint prep, sold at auto paint shops. I always use this stuff for prep work. Thinner works OK on steel, but will melt the factory finish on the SMC spree parts.

I would tend to agree with trying the plug first. What plug are you running currently?

Jerry,

At 5300 ft, shouldn't he be playing with his mix off stock levels?

What do your plugs look like, light brown, dark brown, or white?

Jerry, Does aircraft stripper work on plastic? I know it does on aluminum. I hate strippers. You never get all of it off, and it eat the new paintjob. Rattlecan paint is pretty soft; I'd plan on sanding the whole thing down with 400 grit wet dry, with water, to remove it. Follow with 600 grit. Then ...

Find someone local that works on cars/bikes and borrow it/them. They should be able to show you how. Otherwise most autoparts places sell them for around $30.

I'd recheck your idle jet, as Jerry suggested. Most of the running problems seem to be carb related on this bike.

Seems like these carb cleanings need to be done repeatedly. Are people just running with rusty tanks and replugging up their carbs?

Maybe he could get some short skis to wear on his feet as outriggers and just use the Spree for propulsion.

If the oil is really nasty, you'll want to flush and fill this several times. Might want to wait until you're low/out of gas, you have to tip the scooter nearly horizontal to get it all out.

Like Jerry said.

You'd set the carb screws based on the year of the carb, not the year of the scooter, if they're different vintage.
