$500's not a bad price IF the bike is in good cosmetic shape. I think Jim's been studying these for awhile now. If you can drive a stick shift car you should be fine. Do you know how to countersteer a bike?

On this note: I'd like to get the parts list manual on this site as well. Anyone have an electronic copy of this that I could post here? I'd like to have access to the Honda parts numbers here.

Sounds like it's running rich. Either the intake is plugged somewhere, or a jet is loose (I assume the carb is clean.) How's the aircleaner?

Glad to hear the site helped you out. Good idea on the baby seat... but I'm not sure I'm going to try it.

You can remove your belt and take it to the auto parts shop. They can measure it and (usually) give you an equivalent length back. The increased width of the belt does the same thing as the "pulley mod" listed above does for the stock belt i.e. removing .03" from inner pulley. The bel...

Or you could buy a filter box/rear fender on Ebay.

Went back and checked the numbers. The combination of pulley and slight compression bump got me about 3 MPH increase, from 27 to 30 on an '84 Iowa spree.

Dude, turn your caps lock off. No need to shout. I've been wanting to try the Chevy breather thing. You have two Sprees? Try it on the one that runs and see how it works. If it does, use it on the other. The critical thing on the intake is the length of the rubber tube to the carb. Do you have that ...

It will run like crap if you don't know what you're doing. It will also run like crap if you just remove it. Why, interested in building a custom expansion chamber and trying it? I have a design for you if so. Uses the stock downpipe as a replacement for the muffler. Haven't had time to try building...

Fogging the cylinder, or putting in a tablespoon of oil and turning it by hand won't hurt either. I always do this on stored engines.

Sounds to me like your idle jet is still plugged. Do a search on "idle jet" for more info. You may need to clean it with a toothpick.

After you remove the exhaust, look for a welded-in washer in the muffler pipe near the exhaust port. Bashing out this restriction is good for some HP/speed (2-5 MPH). It was put in to regulate the HP to legal limits in some states.
