Re: Low miles 1985 Aero 50 restore
Ok, so I just got home a little while ago and this is what I tried. Inspected air box. All is ok. Maybe a minute gap. Held hand over air inlet on box, Gave a couple start bursts. No go. Held hand over carb directly with no filter. No go. Gas just came out. Tried 2 spark plugs. .025 & .028 gaps. ...

Re: Low miles 1985 Aero 50 restore
Let me ask u this. Would an airbox cover that's 90% sealed cause the vacuum to not be enough to pickup the "more" fuel coming in now aftet cleaned jet? Same cover but fired up before because the jet was semi clogged therefore not that much vacuum needed. :-O if so, I might have to use some...

Re: Low miles 1985 Aero 50 restore
Gotcha, starting to all make sense now. Not home to test but holding my hand over the airbox holes hopefully will make her fire up. Never had any issues starting until I cleaned the jet. (Wouldn't go past 15mph) after that, I rode it twice & posted the speed pic on previous page. Then, this.... ...

Re: Low miles 1985 Aero 50 restore
Coming from what source though? Tested the leads & got 2-3volts. (Not running) of course. Do these leads get 12v once running to tell the bystarter to close. If mine is broken then this explains why ive been running a lil rich when the scoot was running. Never closed off the extra fuel.

Re: Low miles 1985 Aero 50 restore
Btw, what do the leads do on the bystarter? If the whole reason for the bystarter is to drop the needle when it gets warm to stop the extra fuel then why the wires.

Re: Low miles 1985 Aero 50 restore
Try Choking the air box inlets of you can reach them while cranking the motor over that might make it fire up. That might just richen it up enough to get it to start. Yes, this probably explains why the throttle needle when I pull out is dry. I will try to manually choke it with hand under intake p...

Re: Low miles 1985 Aero 50 restore
Pulled the bystarter out, the green & yellow wires that connect to it are only supplying 2.5ish volts. Should be 12 or so to feed the bystarter correct? Btw, I can push the bystarter needle in. Shouldn't it be fully in & only come out when supplied with power. Probably it is malfunctioning. ...

Re: Low miles 1985 Aero 50 restore
All back together, & no go. No matter what I do. Spark is great. Fuel in carb bowl, good battery. Checked the piston. Bystarter bad/not working. Pulled the throttle cable out, shouldn't the needle be a little wet? No fuel passing by? Air filter is new & no leaks. Idk now whats up.

Re: Low miles 1985 Aero 50 restore
Yeah, you're right. I'm looking at other issues as well.
Ever since I got the scoot I haven't checked reeds. Couldn't get the darn thing off. I'll try to check it. Thank you for responding.

Re: Low miles 1985 Aero 50 restore
BPR6SHA plug is what I have. Should I really have the BPR6HS? I've read alot on the plug and most said the A model. Also, cdi is probably stock, replace? But it should be ok because when it does run, it runs fine. Idk
