Re: AX24 belt for spree latest update

Sweet, if you can find one or something similar would be good to get a heads up. Not expecting my belt to arrive for a couple of weeks.

Re: AX24 belt for spree latest update

A bit of scrounging has come up with this: http://www.vbeltsupply.com/ecommerce/v-m1862t-replaces-john-deere.html Its 11.9mm wide. 0.6mm narrower than the AX24 or Truflex 2250, but 0.4mm wider than a new stock belt. At 635mm long its about 8mm longer than the standard belt, but the same length as th...

Re: Jetspinz' NQ50

I was hoping for that sort of speed, but I think the old stock belt is still holding me back. On the calipers it measured around 11mm, perhaps just shy of. Got a new stock belt on the way to see what improvements that makes. Pretty sure the current belt is original... at very least its about 15 year...

Re: AX24 belt for spree latest update

a 12A0640 would be about perfect... if anyone made one. Or something in 15/32" width.

Re: Jetspinz' NQ50

Did a bit of running around testing today. MLM pipe kicks *, a bolt on 8kph just like that. The 110 jet I need to get the carb sorted isn't arriving till tomorrow so she is a bit rich still. 24mm carb tuning is proving hard, mainly at the idle end of things. I also did some comparison runs with 95 o...

Re: AX24 belt for spree latest update

Thats the thing, the 2250 wasn't rubbing on anything. The wear was on the face of the belt itself, not the top. At 25" it was tight as a nuns.

Re: AX24 belt for spree latest update

In changing back to stock, I opened up the belt cover - and it was full of fluff! A lint light substance, I can only assume it has come from the worn looking side of the 2250 belt. Probably in part due to the fact it's not a cogged belt.

Back to stock, normal service has resumed.

Re: AX24 belt for spree latest update

Well interesting day of testing. As for the belt side of things, changed to the AX24 after installing the pipe. Or at least I tried to. There was so much slack it was never going to work. I doubt the drive pulley would grab it! So I tried the Truflex 2250 instead. Was an absolute b***ard to install ...

Re: '85 Spree still doesn't want to start

I dont think the resister is a big deal. It had the protruding electrode and the right heat range. But having the proper plug speced out by Honda wI'll ensure proper operation. Especially when trouble shooting I came accross this alot when I worked in auto parts. It can actually be quite a major. T...

Re: '85 Spree still doesn't want to start

Your current plug is the right dimensions and heat range, but wrong 'type' - it should be a resistor type plug which may be the cause of your headache. NGK plugs with an R in the number have a 5kOhm resistor which many electronic ignition systems (cdi/coil rather than magneto) need for proper functi...

Re: oil leak question

Give the area a really good clean and scrub with brake cleaner and go for a ride. Might be as simple as some oil you spilled a while back. If not, then with the area clean you should be able to see where its coming from.

Re: '85 Spree still doesn't want to start

It has to be one of three things usually. Spark, fuel, or mechanical. It's easiest to start eliminating things in that order too. How old is the plug? No matter, change it anyway. The fact it runs great as you say 'when it starts' suggests to me that a bit of heat is helping the cause alot. Unlikely...

Re: Jetspinz' NQ50

No great hurry champ, I'll def get them off you but I'm not going to make the Southern this year. Busy searching for another machine for the girl ATM so we can kick off on the Central Plateau next year. Having a blast cruising round Beachlands/Maraetai at the moment though, and gears will be sweet!

Re: AX24 belt for spree latest update

Interested to know why you think its a little long? And keen to know what you think of the AX23. I've got a Gates Truflex 2250 sitting here, its the same dimensions as an AX23 but not a cogged belt. Was thinking about giving it a try for fitting anyway.
