low compression can be the cause of hard starting.. check your spark too, even a good burning plug may not be getting a strong spark. Just check the cap, it should be pretty tight on the plug. high idling is caused by a vacuum leak. Some where air is getting into the engine besides the carb. Start it up and spray carb cleaner around all the intake areas. if there is a leak, it will suck it in and the idle will change.

if there is no compression, it will not start or have a really hard time starting. It also sounds like a weak spark, did you change the plug? Also make sure the spark plug cap is tight, they do wear out very easily.

sounds like a stuck float.. i would do the following first.. take off gas line to make sure the petcock isnt stuck open. A good test is to take off the vacuum line and give it a good suck, gas should flow freely and stop when there is no vacuum. If it passes all of those then take off and give your ...

lol all i see if plug chop, theres way more to trouble shooting a moped then that. like for instance,using your hand over a carb can tell you tons of things bout your jetting. Anways..your problems sounds like stuck open petcock , disconnect the fuel line and see if its flowing gas, it shouldn't be....

I was thinking about it today, has anyone of you tried to port out your exhaust on your cylinder? I know it makes a big difference when done correctly. I port stuff all the time on dio stuff with great results.
