Re: Gyro - general thread

My new tailor-made rain/storm cover is being made as I write and is specially designed to fit the Canopy.

My ‘New?’ Honda Canopy

Here’s my “new’ to me Honda Canopy, it is Registered in UK imported in 2002 and built (Japan) in 1993. In Japan it’s known as a Pizza bike but such term is not recognised over here, having several other ‘twist & go’s’ for a partial comparison shows that it’s 49cc 2 Stroke Engine needs higher rev...

Re: Gyro - general thread

Hi, the VIN of my Canopy consists of 12 digits including hyphen, the first four of which are TA02.... no indication is given of its mfg location or any other data - except eng no. Which is TA01E; 1993 is the recorded date of manufacture. Honda never officially exported the Canopy into UK so perhaps ...

Re: Gyro - general thread

Very much handicapped by the Canopy not having an English maintenance manual, in the absence of teardown - only being able to surmise technicalities from cmsnl parts fiches, it appears that this TA01 2 stroke engine has a geared drive system instead of the more familiar CVT variable drive, also the ...

Re: Gyro - general thread

Correspondence on gyros has generally ‘gone quiet’ maybe everyone’s given up on them? It’s always inspiring to see what others are up to.......

Re: Gyro - general thread

Good thinking Bob, I can’t think of anything more inaccessible than the speedo head....one needs to remove all of the front covering, mudguard, wheel and all of the front apron to get anywhere near the speedo head, definitely a job for the future....
Thanks for your observation.

Re: Gyro - general thread

Hi ya Wentwest, Bob, I wondered how long it would be before we met again, yes I remember you mentioning your gyro in ADV a while ago, your gyro could definitely do with a makeover for more power but in doing so sometimes reliability is lost in the doing. We have a few hills in this ‘flat land’ area ...

Re: Gyro - general thread

After trolling around the web for a while I’ve found the supplier of most spares for the Canopy, all being from www.cmnsl.com in the Netherlands.... Anyone wanting such spares should go to: ‘Honda TC50 Gyro Canopy 2007(7) Japan TA02-200 parts’ where full parts Fische Is available as are most parts. ...

Re: Gyro - general thread

According to Wikipedia the Gyro UP was powered by the TAO1E engine until 2008 when it was dropped and future production changed to a 4 stroke motor - so I should be able to find one off an UP ? Yes/No? The TAO1E engine differs in having a vertical cylinder instead of a rearward facing (plug-on-end) ...

Re: Gyro - general thread

Nunnsie, Thanks a lot for the info, I’ll follow that link up, don’t often buy from Japan, last time I did was for Bridgestone Tyres for my Helix.
Q. How does one get parts without reference material to uplift from?
PS Tried in putting in jp.com, www.jp.com - zilch on both!

Re: Gyro - general thread

I’ve just ordered a OE speedo cable for my Canopy as speedo is slow on starting so first thoughts are cable replacement, apart from that there appears to be little known of the 49cc TAO1E engine fitted to my Canopy, the whereabouts of same would be handy to have as a spare....? As would an English s...
