1999 Honda Sa50P Tune UP Questions

Hey guys, A couple years back a few of you helped me through de-restricting my 1999 Honda SA50. I ended up boring out the washer in the exhuast, upjetting to a #78, and removed the restriction plate. It was a success as I went from 20 mph top speed to 30-35. Life is good, however I do have an issue ...

1984 Spree Help - Thanks!

Hey guys I am back! - No I am not back to put a BBK in my Honda Elite, I am perfectly content with 35 mph right now :) My buddy has a 1984 Spree and we've had a * of a time keeping it running. The starter wouldn't work so we tore it apart and put new brushes in it, and now it seems to work well. Has...

Re: Slow SA50P

UPDATE!!! Hey guys, first off thanks for all the help and knowledge through this process. I, myself, successfully de-restricted 2 of the parts but when I couldn't get the nut off the variator, I knew it was time for professional help. I ordered a #78 main jet off of Ebay and dropped my torn apart bi...

Re: Slow SA50P

Codeman, so I took the tab out of the airbox, I dremmeled the washer out of the exhaust, and I am in process of taking the plate off of the variator. Which jet would be most appropriate? I'm not doing any more mods except for that.

Re: Slow SA50P

CodeMan those pictures help a ton!

Question. If I go out to my garage right now and remove my variator plate and knock out the tabs.........will I be ok? So what I'm asking is, what if I don't "re-jet"? Will a stock main jet be sufficient?

Re: Slow SA50P

This may be a dumb question, but how do I know when I've jetted correctly? Runs smooth not sounding like it's lean?

Re: Slow SA50P

Alright boys, Ordering a main jet TONIGHT but need the correct number. I've seen a ton of people say #78, but others have been talking about low 80s like an 82. What is going to be the BEST for my moped? I'll be honest guys, I'm going to take the restritor plate off the variator, upjet, and knock th...

Re: Slow SA50P

Also, this worries me: So I was on vacation for a few days, came back and it was hard to get the moped started. I eventually got it with the kickstart. When I drove it, Everytime I hit 25 it would feel as though it pushes me back. I assume that it's the variator that is doing that as it's simply res...

Re: Slow SA50P

Drilled out the exhaust already so that's taken care of. Just got a new filter that came today, and airbox is very well sealed. I am definitely interested in parts.

Re: Slow SA50P

Alright man, I am IN! So here is my status. I have taken the muffler off, took it to my Dad's and he dremmeled the washer out. Power change? Yes! I feel more acceleration but it didn't add anything to my top speed. I will be ordering the 78 main jet tonight and ready to open up the float bowl. I nee...

Re: HELP!

I'll be honest, I'm not sure what taking a tab out of the airbox means. It had 2 air filters in it, but I took one out because of how brittle and worn it was. I have a new filter on the way.

Re: HELP!

Looks like this may require a trip to my dad's, tools won't cut it here. Not sure if he has the locking oil clamp, we may have to make due with a vice grip. I am going to bore a hole for the exhaust while I'm out there and then take off the restrictor plate. Will I be ok with just those 2 adjustment...
