Re: Crossed over to the dark side

I just tore one of these things down to its bones and theres quite a bit to them. It quickly reminded me just how simple the 2-stroke motors are to work on. Surprised it doesn't have OBDII...

Re: 1983 Aero 50 performance parts?

http://www.motorscooterguide.net/Honda/Aero50/Aero50.html Read this in its entirety. Looks like Aero didn't switch to a 4-bolt intake until 86'. Might wanna pass on the 83' unless you plan on keeping it stock. Or if its in nice shape w/title, Itd be a decent candidate for a motor swap if mounts are ...

Re: NW scooter ride/meet-up?

Im down. Two of three bikes are torn apart at the moment for Winter tinkering/tweaking. Also, all 3 top out at around 40mph currently so that's a factor also. Lets put something together!

Re: 5:30am rambling and destressing talks.

I drive an 06' F150 with the 5.4l. Bought it new in 06' and now it has 160k mi. Its been a good runner with no major issues besides typical things like brakes, alternator, battery, etc...One major weak link in the chain are these coil plugs. I don't have water collecting in the valley to burn them o...

Re: Does the Met stem need to be modified to go into an SE50

Try a speedo cable from an sa50 elite. They have a longer neck/stem. The inner cable is square on both ends. You could swap out the plastic ends possibly? to fit the met "snap-in" style. They could be "screw-on" fittings? These cables are crimp-on fittings. Im going to pick one ...

Just tried it. The inner diameter is too large which makes it loose on the axle and its also shorter than the Met spacer by 1/4".

Re: Does the Met stem need to be modified to go into an SE50

Just tried the SE50 wheel/brake hub on the met legs. I noticed the SE50 brake hub has two slots in it to fit different legs and I thought Id give it a try. Turns out, 2nd slot goes into met legs just fine but its core is way too narrow. Leaves about a 1-inch gap to the other fork leg. Then I noticed...

Re: Does the Met stem need to be modified to go into an SE50

The ruck hub looks just like the met. The issue is the speedo assembly on the SE50 sits higher up on the bars than on the ruck/met making the ruck/met speedo cable too short to reach the hub by a couple inches. It actually DOES reach and snaps into the hub but puts a massive kink in the cable with Z...

Re: Does the Met stem need to be modified to go into an SE50

Whos got a Ruckus speedo cable laying around to measure the length? They have the same connection at the brake hub as the met but I cant find anywhere telling the actual length. Help a brotha out!

Re: Does the Met stem need to be modified to go into an SE50

Heres where its at for the night....I need to figure out a speedo cable fix. The Met cable needs to be used since it has a unique snap-in type connection into the brake hub but its too short. Does anyone know if the Ruckus has a similar cable but longer?

Re: Does the Met stem need to be modified to go into an SE50

I had to hogg out the inner fender plastic to make room for those pesky pegs again. Made quick work of it with a soldering gun. Its not pretty but it was getting cold and I was running out of f#cks to give at this point. Also, that lower bearing cup you see is from the Met. I decided to swap it sinc...

Re: Does the Met stem need to be modified to go into an SE50

Like I mentioned before, the turn stop "nub" had to be modified since the met tree had the tall pegs. If I didn't do this the bars spun all the way around with no stops. That's great for those hairpin turns until your cables get ripped out by turning too far one time. The "stop tab&qu...

Re: Does the Met stem need to be modified to go into an SE50

I made some progress on the Met tree swap today. I would've gotten more done but I decided to completely tear down the legs and clean/re-grease them before I started. Heres a pic of the test fit.
