Re: dd50 spree with bad gas mileage - help me dig out of this hole!

30-40mpg is typical of a built motor. Stock will get you double that. Not saying your motor is dialed since I have no clue. However, the Spree is not exactly a long distance commuter scoot to begin with. Sheesh, the tank is only 0.7gal and intended to be feeding a baby Spree motor. Swap in a dd50 wi...

Re: Dio motor sleeper

Tall order there...homologated pipes (street legal sound levels) are restrictive and dont produce much power. Also, quiet air filters simply wont provide enough air velocity in the venturi to make use of any other parts. We put the bigger carbs, intakes, reeds, bores and exhausts on there to increas...

Re: 86 Honda Spree won't start I've tried everything

Ive had success in getting a good seal on stock parts with only a paper gasket installed. Only when the mating surfaces are absolutely clean and perfect. However, when building with race parts I always use a sealant with the gasket for added insurance. Ive used Hondabond/Yamabond and Ive also tried ...

Re: 86 Honda Spree won't start I've tried everything

The green arrows show where the base gasket was beginning to fail...the red shows complete failure. This is likely the contributing factor for the oil slick and running issues. Keep in mind that the motor acts as a pump with every revolution and the whole system from air filter to muffler exit needs...

Re: 86 Honda Spree won't start I've tried everything

Sounds like you have options. 1. Remove pump and install one of these: https://scooterswapshop.com/collections/honda-spree/products/pg-oil-plug 2. Grind the teeth off the drive gear of the pump and reinstall 3. Fully test the pump for proper functionality, replace oil lines, install oil tank, PROPER...

Re: Rent a 1986(?) Honda Spree for Film Shoot

Going off ONLY that image...its either an 85 or 86. The 84 had a different “Spree” sticker on the front leg shield and the 87’ had different blinkers. Need more pics than that for exact year.

Re: 86 Honda Spree won't start I've tried everything

Theres two proper ways to bypass the oil pump. First is to simply remove the pump and install a plug in its place. These plugs are more than just a cap. They look like a long tapered rod specifically made to mimic the oil pump’s toothed drive gear. Their function is to occupy the void of the removed...

Re: I'm fairly certain my spree starter is bad, just want to make sure.

Eclark claims the Suzuki LT80 starter rebuild kit fits the Spree. I presonally have no experience in doing this. Ebay has a few used starters for sale but prepare to pay up. Also verify what tooth count you have/need before purchase. If my memory is correct, the 84-85 had 10 and 86-87 had 11. Count ...

Re: 86 Honda Spree won't start I've tried everything

Just went back and read previous posts...75psi compression is an issue....needs to be in the 110 range give or take. So many questions here. Why is it premixed? Does it have a stock bore or aftermarket? Theres no oil tank, is there an oil pump in place? Is the oil feed bung blocked off? Whats the re...

Re: 86 Honda Spree won't start I've tried everything

Not normal...it should be a bit slimey, sure, but dripping in oil indicates theres a pool in the crankcase. Typical 2-stroke mixture is between 32:1 and 50:1. The stock Spree oil pump injects oil somewhere in the middle of this range and its’ exact mixture was never provided by Honda in any literatu...

Re: ‘86 nq50 was running a week ago but now won’t start

I think hes working on an outboard boat motor. Those impellers commonly wear out over time. Its what makes water cycle through to cool the motor. A 50hp Mercury would be a sweet Spree swap!
