Re: 2-stroke resurgence!

Price is in the $50k range. Certainly out of reach for the typical consumer. The most intriguing part is that 2t hasnt been completely abandoned and left for the history books. So many companies investing every cent into electric motor advancements (4t also) to keep up with competitors, its nice to ...

I need to figure out how to install the crank seals.
A piece of PVC pipe works well.

The pictures were mis-leading then. I’m sure any leaks will show up on the pressure test. :thumbwink:

Re: Af16 Assistance / Build

Nice job so far. :2thumbs: Looks like youre learning as you go like everyone does. I have to point out that the gasket surfaces look deeply scratched. Base gasket, intake gasket surfaces, etc. These areas should be smooth as glass for a good seal. Paper gaskets can be somewhat forgiving for minor im...

Re: Did I kill my Spree?

Disassemble and investigate. Report back findings with pictures. The issue will show itself. Diagnosis is a cr@pshoot without it in front us to see. With the noises and symptoms you describe...you may want to compose a eulogy just to have ready. Fortunately, IF your motor is now a boat anchor, good ...

Re: Just another AF16 Spree Swap

Looks like a ripper! Just keep a close eye on that Arrow. The silencers keep falling off. The mounting tab it hangs from is a weak point. The attachment weld to the expansion chamber is solid but the tab itself is not. Always breaks just below the weld. Gianelli pipe...same issue.

Re: 1997 Elite 50 Handlebar Alignment

The steering stem has a slot machined into the top and the bars have a tab. There is “some” adjustment slop in there so you can try to loosen the head nut, get it straight and re-tighten. Id say theres about 1/2” of play in there to work with. If it STILL isnt straight, You can remove the bars and g...

Re: Just signed up - SA50 Engine Question

Ahhh, yes. I forgot about the motor bolt diameter change. The quick reply caught me slippin’ If your variated AF05 is currently mounted (as mentioned), I assume it has its own mount with it. Use THAT mount and it will bolt up to your 94’ SA50 frame nicely....its when you use the AF16 mount for an AF...

Re: Just signed up - SA50 Engine Question

YES! The SA50 frame and motor mount stayed the same from 1988 to 2001...even though the motor changed to the AF16 in 1994.

The frame and mount were different only on the 87’ SE50.
