Re: '86 Spree 10,000 Mile Club
Read about a 24k odometer on a Spree…but it probably had been on many different scooters to get there. These units get easily swapped to different scoots so when buying a used one with seemingly “low miles”….keep in mind that the speedo cluster couldve been replaced. http://www.hondaspree.net/phpBB3...

Re: wont idle and exsecive smoke
The first thing I do with every old scooter I get is delete the oil pump and pre-mix fuel 32:1. Its a great system when they work but a nightmare when they dont. This may not be your issue but it eliminates the possibility and stops future headaches. With pre-mix, you KNOW what the mixture is. The p...

Re: Malossi afr gauge help
Someone used an afr on their 2t years ago and it was mega lean when tuned to 14.7. Sounded real zingy and ran like a raped ape….then burned a hole in his piston. Maybe he chose the wrong mounting spot on his exhaust since they have separate internal chambers or maybe its just a bad idea entirely. I ...

Re: '89 Elite E won't start without starting fluid
I question the new carb. The “replacement” carbs can cause many issues….a lot are just poor quality. Adjusting the screws and getting no change is a red flag. Also, setting the screws to what the manual says for an OEM carb is useless since youre dealing with a random carb now…likely needs different...

Re: 114 stroker build
Fat jetting or cobbling together a shroud to fit around the jug would help with the temps. Maybe a fan scoop also. I built a 50x50 and didnt have any cooling issues once I finally dialed in the tune. I know the fatty air-cooled strokers 120-130cc suffer from heat issues and can only run wot for shor...

Re: 89 elite front rim on Aero question
Will an 89 Elite brake hub mount up to the Aero legs? Im not familiar with Elite/Aero compatibility is why I ask. I DO know that if the pad is showing, your braking ability is reduced…for which 75% of your stopping power comes from the front. I would definitely want full pad-on-drum up there. Spooky.

Re: Oil in carburetor
Ive seen people mount them in the seat bucket. Pop the seat for access. I didnt get a look at how the fuel line was routed tho. There are pictures of it buried somewhere in the bowels of these forums Im sure.

Re: Oil in carburetor
Oil it for sure. I always use the same 2-stroke oil used in the engine. Drizzle some oil on it and squeeze it in your hand with a paper towel. You want it oily but not sopping wet. Dipping it in oil is excessive.

Re: Oil in carburetor
A leak is not normal but most of the time its nothing to worry about. Could just be seeping from the oil line connection from the reservoir. If its leaving puddles on the floor, then I would be concerned. I would start by using a de-greaser and cleaning everything up really well. Run it for awhile a...

Re: noob needs help deciding to buy
Alot to unpack here…the Spree began in 84’ so theres no such thing as an 83’, but thats beside the point. This is a pile of parts and what I call “roached”. This would actually be a decent buy for $150 if you were restoring a better Spree and needed some bits n bobs to finish it. Restoring THIS unit...
