Re: Do i need to mod the sb50 carb to run a BBK/muffler mod?
im well aware of the limitations of a non-variated engine. but i have what i have. and i want to make it the best it can be. If i go blow all my money on a DIO or other engine ill be hardpressed to afford the mods to fix it up(and where is the fun in that.) If you wanted to ship that variated afo5 t...

Re: Do i need to mod the sb50 carb to run a BBK/muffler mod?
Getting out of the intersection after a redlight faster is what im after most. That and not flintstoning it at take off so bbk is definitely what i need. Any other mods like gear or belt swap will be later on for the giggles i think. Still not sure the 200$ polini carb is a mandatory upgrade for the...

Re: Do i need to mod the sb50 carb to run a BBK/muffler mod?
Other than injector port what would need to be modded carb wise? Does taz's 22mm carb mount do more than widen the channels? Dumb question: assuming i keep the gears stock in my non variated afo5 what would the 48mm bbk do to its performance? Would it raise my accel and hill climbing abilities? Or j...

Re: Loose kickstarter
circlip was there but out of place. i widened a washer and slid it into position and attached the circlip properly. the spindle now stays in position but my spring seems to be faulty. and wont force the kickstart back up into position after starting the engine.

Re: Crack in stock elite e exhaust. Big Problem?
MLM pipe has been delivered, and will be on shortly. So far it sounds great and cant wait to see how my scoot will handle the difference. I can already tell i will need to adjust the idle to stop wheelspin

Re: Loose kickstarter
does the washer and circlip fit outside the casing? my kickstarter is also loose and will grind if i wobble it. i think i see that groove you are talking about on the spindle. where would i find a replacement washer and circlip? im not sure on the sizing for each.

Re: AFO5E exhaust bolt size?
Before the auto shop closed I picked up 2 M8x20 bolts and as far as i can tell the top mount on my scoot is stripped and will need to be re-tapped and fit with a bigger bolt. the bottom mount hole appears to fit the new bolts but the wider exhaust makes it difficult to fit the bolt into the hole. to...

Re: AFO5E exhaust bolt size?
The only estimate i can gather is that they are probably 8x28mm bolts no guarantee though. hopefully i can pick them up at a hardware store tomorrow.

AFO5E exhaust bolt size?
I just replaced my broken stock spree exhaust with an MLM side bleed pipe. I put it on, tightened it down at the engine and quickly found that i lost my only bolt that attaches the pipe at its heaviest point. image of the mounting points here. http://i.imgur.com/xe4IMXZ.jpg Does anyone know the size...

Re: Do i need to mod the sb50 carb to run a BBK/muffler mod?
yes the Taz BBK comes with the 100 or 107 fuel injector and after i install the kit i will either need to remove the oil injector and run premix or force it to full blast and still run premix gas(especially during break in). but im still not sure how much i will have to mod the stock air intake. and...

Re: Do i need to mod the sb50 carb to run a BBK/muffler mod?
I've decided to take what i have and make it the best i can, even with its limitations it should do what i need it to do. the Taz gears will be the last thing i do. muffler is on the way. bbk/jet are next and i'm assuming i will have to mod the carb/intake soon after. I wanted a project and i got it...

Re: Grinding TAZ gears to fit an elite e?
So a spree has a 15mm inner bearing and the Elite E has a 13mm so i assume i have to shave off that excess SOMEWHERE along that shaft. but easier said then done if you don't have excess to a machine shop. and hacking at it with a grinder sounds like a disaster waiting to happen (wobbly gears aren't ...

Re: Taz gears for your Spree are now on eBay!!!!
Too true. too many people are worried about having the fastest scoot(it seems) but to me the most fun comes from taking whatever you have and making it the best it can be or customizing it to your liking. and yes karma i am also hoping to see the spree carbs back in stock. i have a feeling i wont be...

Grinding TAZ gears to fit an elite e?
I'm told that even though the engines are very similar i need to modify the TAZ gears to fit and work inside my elite e. but my problem is i don't know how i have to modify them. they will be going in after i install a BBK so im concerned but not very worried about losing some of my low end accelera...

Re: Crack in stock elite e exhaust. Big Problem?
yes the increase in noise is enough to not ride it at the moment i tried a dirty repair with steelstik putty but that blasted off immediately after 24 hours of curing. all i have is a tig welder and all that did was blast a bigger hole through the pipe so that's out. Im stuck waiting and saving unti...
