Re: Gyro - general thread

Nice to see there are companies trying to get parts to be as original as possible. Think we could get them to make battery and carb covers?

Re: Gyro - general thread

Well, after three original carbs and a Chinese one, I finally got the gyro running correctly. The air/fuel valve brass tube in the bowl has a very small hole it it that is a b**** to get clean. I drilled out the first carb, but the hole is so small that the carb ran way too rich. Second carb had the...

Re: Gyro - general thread

Thanks Motormike. I am up there on weight for this bike (210), so it is probably appropriate. Took it out for another run today and it stalled out and this time did not restart after setting for 2 hours. Back to the drawing board. I did find another original carb, so I will wait till that comes in a...

Re: Gyro - general thread

Thanks Motormike. I think there is still oil in the fuel from when I first started it. That would add to the smoke. Going for some rides and will see if the issues work out.

BTW. What type of road speed should I expect? I am getting 25 mph per the speedo on flat streets.

Re: Gyro - general thread

Thanks RR. This pump was not hooked up when I got the bike, the tank was cracked, so I figure that is why they disconnected it. I picked up a tank and put the system back in operation. Compression on the bike is 130, but it does have 3000 miles on the Odometer. Is it normal that you get actual oil o...

Re: Gyro - general thread

Got the new filters in today. Thanks for the recommendation, The old filter was made by the PO. It was a green scrubby. I took the bike for its first longer run today. It went about a mile and died, they restarted after a few minutes and took me home. So, I am still sorting out the issues. I did not...

Re: Gyro Carb

Well, disaster has struck. I had a slight leak in the bowl, took the carb off, bowl off and the main body rolled off my workbench and bent the bystarter tube. Not fixable. So, I am looking for a carb body for the Gyro. 27 F, I will post on the buy and sell.

Re: Gyro Carb

Found the problem. The tube going into the air/fuel valve extends slightly into the passage. someone in the past must have tightened the air/fuel needle in and the needle bent the top of the tube. I drilled the tube out. Since the tiny hole is in the carb body, drilling the tube does not change it. ...

Re: Gyro Carb

Most appreciated. Still learning the in's and out of this site. Was not aware of Wiki, it is a great resource. Ok, it is plugged and that would explain my issues. Bike starts and runs well but as soon as the bystarter warms up, and closes off the bike stops. I have a set of carb cleaning brushes and...

Gyro Carb

Thanks RR. Order placed. So today I took the carb apart and put it in carb cleaner. All passages were brushed and blown out. I noted that the copper tube next to the main jet tube is not patent. I ran a wire in it but it is blocked. Air pressure did not clear it. This tube is hooked to the air/fuel ...

Re: Gyro - general thread

Good point to check RR. I will pull the Air Cleaner and check the filter. I remember reading on an earlier post that someone had filters that work for the Gyro. Do you have information on that? Also, I want to build a cover for the carb . I know a few of the members have done this. Anyone have pictu...

Re: Gyro - general thread

Checked the fuel valve. All clean and flowing. I did note that when in the reserve position it leaks around the valve. From the design and that they riveted the holding plate on, I take it this is a common problem. When in the ON position the fuel flows through the filter tube directly to the base. ...

Re: Gyro - general thread

Pulled the cover off the fuel valve and started to drain the tank. Just a trickle of fuel coming out. So, I am draining the tank and pulling the valve. From the leak coming from it when it is in reserve, it needs a rebuild anyway.

Re: Gyro - general thread

My TG50 starts right up, but after about 3 to 5 minutes it dies and then will not start up for another 3 to 5 minutes. I checked the fuel flow and it is good. Bistarter checks out per the manual, but it sure appears to be a lack of fuel. Fuel valve is clear, but I did note when I put the valve in th...
