Spark

Make sure you are using the right NGK plug, try a new one to make sure. I believe you should be getting a strong blue spark, which you can check by removing the plug from the cylinder head and hold it close enough to the frame to get a spark. I had a weak spark condition which was improved by cleani...

Changing bearings

Hi - I don't know if you've figured it out yet, but the simple way to remove bearings is: Pull out the rubber oil seal with something like a small plastic hook, then use a socket that is the right size to touch the inner race of the wheel bearing to drive the bearing from the rim. A press is the bes...

Jammed crankshaft on 85 Spree (NQ50)

Upon reassembly of the two sides of the crankcase and torquing down the bolts, the crankshaft becomes very difficult to turn by hand - definitely something not right. Journal bearing part #'s

Hi - Can anyone confirm that the crankshaft journal bearings are in fact distinct parts on the right and left side for an 85 Spree (NQ50)? On one parts diagram I was able to find it appears as though the right hand side journal bearing is part #91004-GJ5-003, and the left hand side one is 91001-148-...

Trick to reattach belt?

Hi All - I have been going through an 85 Spree (NQ50), and I took the belt off to clean out some crud in the case. Does anyone have a trick for reattaching the belt on the pulleys before I throw my shoulder out or something? :)

Thanks!

Martin
