Re: Found scooter

I dont know if the cops ran the vin or not but I'm gonna have a cop friend of mine run it. He said if it's not reported stolen I can apply for a salvage title and its mine.
I may keep it and sell my tomos ped.

Found scooter

A scooter (95 elite)was dumped in my alley by my back gate Friday June 7th about 1pm. Either A) somebody has driven down my alley and saw me working on scooters and figured I'd like their kids scooter taking up room in their garage. The more realistic scenario is that it's stolen and dumped by my ba...

Does this look fishy to you?

On facebook marketplace a guy has an ad for a 1988 elite. Something doesn't look right. It almost looks like a spree backend mounted on a elite frame?
https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/it ... 086629731/

Am I crazy or did someone put leftovers from a spree swap together to sell to some sucker?

Re: Parting (out) is such sweet sorrow

I had an interested party contact me today but his interest is waning once I told him the rack is missing the rear turn signals (another of the former owner's "improvements")

Re: Parting (out) is such sweet sorrow

Yeah. I thought it was a pain to replace the cylinder on a puch, then I started working on Chinese scoots. All that plastic and valves and chains and cams. A moped is a walk in the park compared to that.

Re: Parting (out) is such sweet sorrow

I used to have a puch maxi. It was the first thing I ever turned a wrench on. It was a great little ped. I kick myself daily for getting rid of it. Much easier to work on than scooters.

Parting (out) is such sweet sorrow

I'm tired of futzing with my spree and I plan to part it out. What's a fair price for say the carb or the speedo? How much can I get for the kick start and the starting motor? (I understand they are hard to come by). Are the plastics worth anything if they are banged up and rattlecanned? Money is ti...

Re: Where are everyone finding elite 50 and dio engines?

I suppose if I sold my spree kick start mechanism and starter I can use that to finance the engine you're selling.

Re: Where are everyone finding elite 50 and dio engines?

I've recently seen a few aeros but they are priced a little high and parts are scarce (or so I'm told)

Where are everyone finding elite 50 and dio engines?

I've been looking to do an engine swap on my spree and I don't see any elite 50's coming up on CL. Tons of ch80s but no 50's. Besides ebay with its expensive shipping I haven't seen any dio engines either. Where are they hiding?

Maybe I'm not looking hard enough.

Re: Ugh...forget it. I'm done

I'll likely go with a 50. I never see elite 50's around here on cl. I see lots of 80's for a lot more than they are worth.

Re: Ugh...forget it. I'm done

Something variated that will fit in a spree. An elite or something. I am not in any hurry. I have my chineese scoot to keep me occupied until I get the disposable cash for an engine. My buddy is a welder so he can help me with the mount if needed. Can I stick a 125cc up in there or were they only 4 ...

Ugh...forget it. I'm done

I must have gotten a scoot that was too far gone. I am done screwing with this peice of junk! Either I'm going to swap out the engine or chuck it in the river. So if you have an engine to sell, contact me. And if you live in Memphis or New Orleans and see a spree floating down the Mississippi you ar...

Re: Oil pump spits oil when trying to start

I removed the pump to take a look. should the shaft just come out? I see it's threaded, does it thread into something? I removed my pump and the shaft was still in there.
