Re: spark related questions

The grounds are in the drawing member @mousewheels has kindly posted above, represented by the 3 horizontal stacked lines. Note there are 6 ground points shown in the drawing. The wire colors are also noted...the wires must be traced to their grounding points. It is vital they are clean and tight an...

Re: spark related questions

I see you don't specify your model or year....that would be most essential, no? You've performed all ignition component checks in the appropriate Honda service manual? Thus confirming each component is electrically sound. Checking integrity of all related system grounds (as shown in the schematics) ...

Re: orifice of bystarter bowl clogged

Reading about messin' with dangerous chemicals (carcinogenic or even flammable?).... I became inquisitive about "cooking" using carb cleaner. I found further eclark more reasonable advise...note the starred text. "Soak the carb over-night in this solution with the crock pot ***set on ...

Scoots in the 'hood 1995?

This scanned paper pic taken around '95 or '96. Some of these "kids" are in their early 30's now! Our street was a daily, non stop scooter raceway. I taught each and every one pictured to ride. My 2 kids on their 86 black Spree and red Aero or Elite (?). The black '86 Spree still in my pos...

Re: possibly starting a shop

Agreed...a highly seasonal market accompanied by intense competition makes predictable, steady incoming business difficult. Working at a Yamaha dealer in the 70's...the boss *insisted* on being open during a snowy, nasty winter day....we sold 1 quart of 2 stroke oil that whole day...net $1.25 (at th...

Re: possibly starting a shop

A lot to consider, building rental, preparation to convert the space to a working shop, meeting local codes, employee payroll, income taxes, liability insurance, electric , water bills, (possible) state registration as a "certified vehicle service provider" ...much more than meets the eye....

Re: How old is everyone?

I'm 66 Such great summer fun, I've taught neighborhood kids from 8 years old up to their parents and grandparents how to ride with our '86. Groups of 4-6-8 kids line up to take laps, with parents permission (or present) of course. A dead end cul-de-sac...no traffic, tons of fun, clapping and laughin...

Re: orifice of bystarter bowl clogged

orifice of bystarter r├®servoir in carburator. As it is clogged, can I drill hole bigger than main jet? jacgerber I'd dissuade simply on the basis it is a *non-reversable* modification....likely unnecessary as well. Though as motormike, mousewheel and hailwood have suggested...clean it open to spec.

Re: powering the auto choke

recent hard starting prompted me to check bystarter performance on my '86 Spree....inspection revealed a fair amount of corrosion on the terminals within the connector....both sides. Cleaning and a smidge of dielectric grease on the connectors, a good carb clean.....back to normal instant start at t...
