Re: Map/Navigation app with speed limit option?

I like your logic, meatball. I’m starting with a variator and a suspension overhaul, then will do the ZX rear pulley, new clutch, and gears once I can find a set of 16x42’s. SSS is out of stock on them and says they are getting a new supplier and should have them back “soon”. We’ll see how fast that...

Center stand not fully retracting, maybe bent?

Hi all, I noticed the other day that the center stand on my 01 Elite does not seem to be fully retracting. It is rubbing against the variator cover by where the kickstart is and has worn away some of the material on the cover. I’m pretty sure it’s bent, but I can’t seem to find any pictures of the s...

Map/Navigation app with speed limit option?

Hi all,

Does anyone know of a map/navigation app that would let you select a route based on max speed? For example, I could set 35 mph as the max speed limit for any roads on the route? Basically, something to find moped-friendly routes.

Re: Throttle issues before and after carb rebuild

Meatball - how much material are we talking? Like something you could shave off with a die grinder?

Re: Solid replacement/upgrade shocks?

Thanks, the more information I can get from more experienced people (so, pretty much everyone) the better. Right now I think I'm leaning towards the CT100 shocks if I can find a pair the right length. Will probably take measurements of the stock ones tomorrow after work...unless some extremely helpf...

Re: Solid replacement/upgrade shocks?

Thanks for the info. At 225mm isnÔÇÖt that a bit shorter than stock? I think if anything IÔÇÖd want a bit longer for the extra travel. Though for $40 I donÔÇÖt think IÔÇÖd have too much buyers remorse...theyÔÇÖve gotta be better than the blown stock ones. Has anyone tried the dampers from an elite 8...

Re: Solid replacement/upgrade shocks?

Thanks! I actually found http://hondaspree.net/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=32123 from wheelman a while back suggesting the C100 shocks. Seems like a good way to go, especially if they're still only $40 for the set. Rear ones have been much easier to find, just gotta do a little homework on which ...

Solid replacement/upgrade shocks?

Hi all,

I tried searching this topic but the links I could find were all outdated or to expired eBay sales. IÔÇÖm looking to replace all 3 shocks on my 01 Elite. IÔÇÖd like something a fair bit stiffer than stock. IÔÇÖm also unsure of the length I need. Any recommendations would be great!

Re: Throttle issues before and after carb rebuild

Good to know! Though if I have to replace the variator to gain that extra 5 MPH I'm just gonna go for broke and get a Polini. Unless someone has a complete SR variator set they want to sell for cheap :-)

Re: Throttle issues before and after carb rebuild

Yep, carb is squeaky clean with a 78 jet, new air filter and a new spark plug. ItÔÇÖs basically just de-restricted to match the specs of an SR. I think the tires are 90/90 but not totally sure.

How was the acceleration with the taller gears? Still manageable for city traffic?

Re: Throttle issues before and after carb rebuild

Thanks Wheelman. Still would like to be able to hit 40 if that's what the bike should be capable of. Could it be a carb-tuning issue, or perhaps flat-spotted rollers? I've been toying with the idea of getting a new variator; it seems like that would offer the biggest "bang-for-the-buck" in...

Re: Throttle issues before and after carb rebuild

Hey Meatball, here's the picture of my variator following your sharpie suggestion and a few WOT runs. Had some family over on Wednesday so I didn't get around to doing the test. Managed about 37 on a flat run. Variatormarks.JPG Seems that the belt is not winding all the way out, unless this is a nor...

Re: Throttle issues before and after carb rebuild

Thanks. I checked out the wiki and found this page http://hondaspree.net/wiki/index.php5?title=Transmission_Reduction_Ratios Is the difference in the variator specs listed simply due to the restrictor plate? IÔÇÖm also not exactly a small dude, about 230 lbs; maybe itÔÇÖs just having trouble pushing...
