Quite possibly the greatest emulsion tube removal tool ever

...a plain old, regular, run of the mill golf tee. Put the pointy end down through the top like where the needle was at, apply however much pressure is required to pop the thing loose to the comfort-fit thumb rest part where the golf ball would sit. Perfect fit. Can't hurt anything. Can't believe I ...

Re: Battery recommendation for spree used daily and kept out

All the batteries that size are pretty much the same. The wally world ones only last a year or two and then they are trash. I'd invest in a kickstarter if you don't already have one, and making sure the bystarter is functional and the carb is very clean. If ridden daily, and reasonably maintained, t...

Re: 86 Spree drive pulley hitting electric motor?

The cover is the thing that prevents that starter pinion from moving outward, not having the cover in place is a REALLY bad idea. If that bike was tipped just a tiny bit, or if a butterfly broke wind nearby, the pinion could have moved a bit outward and the teeth on your drive gears would be toast.

Re: 87 spree electric help

These starter relays can be easily destroyed by jumping from a car battery. They overheat easily and the plastic body melts, causing the metal connectors to become misaligned, which can cause the thing to click but not send current to the starter motor. It's basically an electromagnet switch, which ...

Re: 86 spree gas guzzler

You have to take into consideration that the tank is only .66 gallons. A quarter of that is 0.165 gallons, and if you get 7 miles on that much gas, that's just over 42 mpg (which is a bit low, but not stupendously low like there is something horribly wrong). If you get 8 miles on that, it's 48 mpg. ...

Re: Oldest Scooter?

I've done 40 on my stock Spree, although it was near the end of a looooong downhill run with a very stiff tailwind. After I soft seized once on a run like that, I quit doing it.

But yeah, stock on flat level ground, you're doing real well if you can hit 30.

I'm in Spree country Monday - Friday for the next 9 weeks

Sitting here bored in hotel room in Midland, Michigan. Haven't seen a single scooter since I got here. Did get held up by Joe Biden's motorcade yesterday morning. What a zoo. Where are all the scooter riders at? I thought there would be nothing but Sprees, Aeros, and Elites are far as I could see.

Re: How much did Spree's cost?

According to Popular Science magazine, from August 1984, page 98, Spree retailed that year for $398.00.

Check http://books.google.com, search terms Honda Spree.

Re: 100 trouble free WOT miles..

I overheated my Spree once by WOT on a long gradual downhill run in Charlotte with a hefty tailwind. Was going over 40MPH, over-revved, didn't think it would be an issue, but it soft-seized for a few minutes before going back to normal. Didn't do that again.

Re: testing reeds

Well, you really should do both. But, pressure is probably easier to test, and I'd think reeds would fail subtly more on the pressure than the vacuum. If they failed on the vacuum, the motor probably would not run at all.

Leak test. There was a thread a few weeks ago with a link to a dude demonstrating how it's done on You Tube.

I am an idiot. Most of the time, I cruise around town in a t-shirt, shorts, and flip-flops. Don't be like me.

Re: Engine bogging out at high RPMs. fuel issue?

Ride around with side panels removed. When the bike starts bogging down, place a finger over one of the holes on the back of the airbox. Does it recover?
