Re: Childhood Spree rebuild
Just thought you guys would appreciate a short update. I have the new 10-2.75s mounted. This thing runs great. Thanks so much for your patient replies. I’ll try to contribute with my limited knowledge base.

Re: Childhood Spree rebuild
I’m ordering tires newer than 1987 tonight along with new tubes and tire levers. Slider is still a bit sticky but I think it will totally resolve with use.

Re: Beloved 87 Honda Spree Won't Idle/Start with New Carb
With my limited experience, just screw the idle screw all the way in. Then back the screw out to what you want. It’s not that sensitive. Carbs are very simple devices. When you were putting the carb back together, did you put all the parts back in? No distractions from 10 year olds (asking for a fri...

Re: Childhood Spree rebuild
Disregard the previous questions. Throttle slider issue resolved itself. Just tuned the low idle. Thing runs like brand new. Time to put the plastics back on. Thanks dudes!

Re: Childhood Spree rebuild
Is there a spacer that sits above the throttle slider? I’m trying figure out why the slider is being pulled too far up by the throttle cable. Perhaps it got lost when my friend disassembled the carb last year.

Re: Childhood Spree rebuild
The “action” of the throttle is very good. Plenty of snap back to idle when the slider isn’t physically stuck. I notice the slider sticking issue with the carb off the bike and when I’m actually riding on the road.

Re: Childhood Spree rebuild
Lol! I know, right!? Got it running properly now that I put the main jet back inside the carb. (d*** it!). So, now that I’ve learned not to rebuild carbs while being distracted by 10 year olds, one last problem. When I go full throttle, the throttle slide sticks at full throttle. I have to unscrew t...

Re: Childhood Spree rebuild
Crap, I think I found the problem. Whatever this piece is probably belongs inside the carburetor is my guess.

Re: Childhood Spree rebuild
The gasket on the bystarter isn’t minty but it’s not poking out anywhere I can see. I think it’s just a lighting illusion that makes it look wonky. It fits snugly in the hole.

Re: Beloved 87 Honda Spree Won't Idle/Turn Over with New Carb
I’m battling the same issue right now. Did you put new fuel hoses on when you did the carb? Have you cleaned the petcock? Any debris in the fuel tank (it’s very easy to remove).
When you spray starting fluid into it, how does it run?

Re: Childhood Spree rebuild
I’ll take a look at that and snap a better pic. Right now, I can get it to idle indefinitely if I have the throttle pinned wide open. When I spray starting fluid into the intake, rpms increase so it appears to be a fuel delivery issue now which seems odd as it would run non-stop at full throttle whe...

Re: Childhood Spree rebuild
Here is how I think the intake elbow is supposed to be on the carb. I imagine if there’s an air leak, I can find it by spraying starting fluid around the elbow.

Re: Childhood Spree rebuild
How is this gasket supposed to be orientated? Should the rubber O-rings be mated together or opposite?

Re: Childhood Spree rebuild
I know the airbox/carb clamp is loose and out of place. That wasn’t the problem.
