Have tried new bulb to no avail - also cleaned terminals. a couple of notes - '86 not '87 (no license plate light) If either brake is depressed while the bike is cranked, the tail light is interrupted, and will not illuminate, though i have had it come back on while riding in the past -still interru...

Thank you bonesv and Cubey. That was also my next step for a Sunday. Of course it may be as simple as that..I've tried it with my friend's bulb with the same effect, however brand new bulb never hurt anyone. I'll update this afternoon
