Re: Chiness POS carbs
I brought an el cheapo Chinese carb for my Honda Nifty 50 1984-5 just to try but the throttle would stick inside the carb. Maybe was stuck inside the carb, can't remember now. I messed around for ages checking the needle setting until I noticed it was sticking. Not sure whether it was a machining fa...

Would those solid rubber 2.50-10 tyres work for a Spree
I just noticed solid rubber tyres for sale at the same size while looking for yet another tube. Would these work OK on a Spree? No more punctures..ever or would they not fit our rims. Can anyone see a problem with these?

Re: Electronic conversion for a Spree anyone?
And it would have to be cheap given there are lots of cool e-rides coming onto the market for around $1000 US. Batteries etc should get cheaper and cheaper with better range but it would probably always be for a short distance commute. The Spree turned in to stand up scooter is the only fun modifica...

Electronic conversion for a Spree anyone?
Has any smarty done an e-conversion for a Spree yet? Any ideas on the cheapest easiest ways? I see one motorbike modification just entailed a new rear frame that used the old suspension spring and bolts with the battery slotted in where the oil pump, motor, exhaust etc was. It had a rear wheel motor...

Re: My little Nifty 50
Is it running now? Ive got the same Nifty50 but NZ rego says its a 1986 but parts etc suggest it's 1984. Mine doesn't have a mileage counter. Have you discovered what year yours is? There is a good page on this forum showing the differing years/models with different parts. Painful. I need a carb and...

Re: Clogged Idle Jet
Thanks vintagegarage. That worked. Yahoo. I used a bit of wire from a wire brush in a micro drill/spin vice and a heat gun as per another youtuber. It took a few heat ups and spins. It really helped seeing the photo on wikispreedia of the inside of the pilot jet. So clogged at the little passage I'm...

Two bystarters, one reading 15 ohms and one 17ohm when manual says 10ohms maxs
Wondering whether these cheapo bystarters are safe to put on a Nifty50/Spree 1986. The manual says 10 ohms max but these generic Nq50cc bystarters are about 15 ohms. I notice the inside of the bystarter cavity where the needle sits and blocks the bystarter jet when hot is showing a bit of wear. Prob...

Re: Clogged Idle Jet
Thank you uspmale, you legend. After years following carb cleaning youtube vids I realise I haven't been cleaning my Nifty50/Spree carb properly at all..ever. They never show the removal of the bystarter or pilot jets and as per uspmale's instructions they do come out and really should. Don't use br...
