I got my second starter relay in the mail yesterday. Don't know if it makes a different but I bought the more expensive one. when I took apart the connection plug the female end of the plug was totally melted. So that's what is causing the by pass and the random turning over of the motor. Will have ...

Re: Electrical gremlins.
That sounds right .it is brand new but I can get another one off the net. Also the brake shut off do not work at all. But perhaps that's because everything is being overwhelmed by the faulty starter relay. Thanks.

Re: Electrical gremlins.
I Figured out the tail light issue. The light wires that grounded on the back rack were not connected and doing that solved the tail light . I also worked the key switch and squirted some carb cleaner. But still if I connect the battery up the starter turns over instantly. If the key and the red shu...

I'm not sure what I did but ..... I bought a tester to check and see if I was getting a spark I hooked the tester in between the plug and the piece you cram down on the plug. I was just looking to see if there was a spark. I turned the key and switch on and pushed the starter button and the tester l...

Re: 86 SPREE ....GOOD NEWS ...BAD NEWS
I have decided to change my plan of attack and get the starter working instead of endlessly cranking on the kick start. I ordered a new starter relay ....the old one was pretty corroded and would not even click. the engine did fire that one time but I can't figure why it won't fire again. One thing ...

Re: 86 SPREE ....GOOD NEWS ...BAD NEWS
I plugged the oil hole in the carb. That should help. As long as I don't have a puddle of unburned fuel now waiting for a spark. I may try to pull the muffler and push the fuel out the exhaust. Thanks to all.

Ive been working on my 1986 spree .I got the new filter and hooked the battery up . Checked and had a spark. I mixed up some 32 to 1 gas and put a quart in the tank. Then I squirted a bit of gas mix in the spark plug hole ,screwed in the plug and jumped on the kick start. The motor instantly fired a...

Re: 85 spree
The tank cheanout went well but there is still a little rust inside so I'll give it a shot tomorrow. I used the baking soda and vinegar method which was pretty impressive, . Two questions ....I Does the little saucer shaped object below the tank come off? It's the piece the fuel / air lines attach t...

Re: 85 spree
Pulled the tank pretty easily. it's not too bad inside . the weight in the float is a bit corroded and it doesn't move very well but I bet some wd 40 will fix that . Pulling that carb is going to be tricky. My hands are pretty big and some of those screws are not easy to get at. Thanks for your help.
