Re: 86 Spree Fuel Issues
Did you look closely at the needle length and compare to orig needle? I'm fighting a similar issue with fuel level being too high but not high enough to come out overflow. I lost my first needle (original??). Got a replacement and had issues with high fuel level. Ordered another float and needle. Th...

Re: Running rich
No luck finding an adjustable float so ordered a direct replacement (and another needle valve). Hopefully it floats better. Not 100% I have the correct needle installed. Maybe it's just a little too short?? Still looking for a spring. Don't really want to order a whole carb just to rob a little spri...

See-through float bowls?
Found these things while looking for a float. Seems like it would be great for troubleshooting but not sure I'd want to run one all the time. https://www.ebay.com/itm/384784657523?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D1110013%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.SIMRXI%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20201210111452%26meid%3Dc7040f8bd1e...

Re: 85 Spree Won’t Start, Clean Carb, New Spark Plug
Good job. Those tiny passages can be tough to clean but they're very important.
Ok on the premix. Make sure you have purged any air that may be in the pump/hoses. Think there was a link abt oil inj sys on that page I posted.

Re: 85 Spree Won’t Start, Clean Carb, New Spark Plug
The premix is also good for the metal fuel tank since they are prone to rusting, especially if left unattended for long periods. My tank was in rough shape due to rust. Got it pretty clean now and the premix should stop it from rusting further while it's still down awaiting parts. In regards to the ...

Re: 85 Spree Won’t Start, Clean Carb, New Spark Plug
Sounds like carb idle circuit is plugged up. I would try cleaning again. Might need an ultrasonic clean. Should run ethanol free fuel if possible. I'm still trying to get mine to run right after sitting abt 20 years. The oil tank hose has a filter where it attaches to oil tank. Wouldn't hurt to remo...

Running rich
Getting closer to getting my 1987 Elite 50 running. Found my float level is too high. It's not high enough to come out overflow tube, but too high to run right. Float is plastic and not adjustable. Don't see anything wrong with the float, no holes/leaks Already replaced float "needle" and ...

This is the one I recently put on my spree. Works great. https://www.ebay.com/itm/185971100117?hash=item2b4cbdc9d5:g:SPcAAOSwlFRfGdkL&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAABIHBHTw00q%2BBfY%2FGE4O8M%2F8ZlC%2BQRLTVlQtJjX0TCQvaezunItt41S25IRRzx08plG5rkIehzw3ZV9SNVCKZ%2F5NDe1LJAzZJVBRzyHDMNwVGkKKux0sBdgYQqio6DHIaJsd...

Re: 1986 Honda Aero NB50 stripped crankshaft screw rethread advice.
I've tried "fixing" threads that were in waay better condition. Wasted hours with a small file trying to re-cut the threads. If it was only 1 thread with damage, you might get away with just using a thread Die, but when it's many threads going all the way to the end, you're done. A machine...

Re: Transmission Issue
Your 3 (corrected) symptoms seem normal for eng OFF. Maybe clutch shoes are stuck in retracted position or RPMs weren't high enough to make clutch engage? Clutch won't engage until RPMs are kinda high.

Re: Electrical gremlins.
If the starter relay is new, you may have a different issue There may be a short somewhere telling the relay to engage. Hopefully you have a hand-held volt meter you can measure the smaller wires on the starter relay with. I'd much rather troubleshoot than throw parts at it. A electrical schematic w...

Re: Electrical gremlins.
Not intimately familiar with that model, but sounds like your starter relay is stuck closed. Find it and measure resistance across the 2 large connectors/ posts with the wiring disconnected ( be sure to disconnect batt first!). Not sure where it's located on your model but if you follow the wire fro...

Re: 1986 Honda Aero NB50 strange Auto Bystarter stalling issues.
I have zero experience with aftermarket moped carbs. There may be a design issue with it causing odd behavior?? When I re-assembled my bystarter, I noticed when the 2 halves of the housing are screwed together, there's no obvious point to stop. The further that the 2 halves are screwed together, the...

Re: Carb upgrade?
Thx for the info. I suspect the prev owner may have swapped some parts out looking for better performance but it wasn't running when I bought it. Is there an easy way to tell if the exhaust is a "P" or "non-P" version?
