85 spree cold start problems
my 85 spree had problems starting when it hasn't been run in a while I have to kick start it for at least 20 min and then it starts to fire. Once this thing gets going it runs perfect, and can start first crank when its been running for a while. Compression is 110+, good spark, and i can drain fuel ...

Re: 85 spree w/ no spark
Ok I checked and on both alternators, the yellow and white wires both were continuous with the frame and within spec for resistance. Doing the same check on the black and red wire, my multimeter flashed a resistance value for an instant then went back to non-continuous reading. It did that for both ...

Re: 85 spree w/ no spark
Yeah the wires were completely disconnected from the harness. I tried two stators that I have and they both didn't have continuity between the black/red wire and the frame. I'm a little hesitant on saying that they're both bad, is there a way I can check resitance values between the white or yellow ...

Re: 85 spree w/ no spark
ignition switch checks out Pulse generator resistance at like 125, so thats good. When I went to check the exciter coil, I placed one probe on the black and red connector from the alternator and the other probe grounded to several bolts and frame spots, but couldnt get any resistance value. I though...

85 spree w/ no spark
Ok so I have been chasing electrical gremlins around for the last two weeks trying to figure out why my 85 spree doesn't have spark. I started with the manual's checklist: Faulty Spark Plug: - Tried three different NGK plugs Poorly connected or broken wire between... - alternator and CDI (black and ...

Re: 86 Spree dies under load
Yes i have an air filter and it is only a few months old. Would a carb cleaner spray work to find a leak instead of a propane torch?

Re: 86 Spree dies under load
It was running like this before I cleaned everything, and thought I'd clean the usual problem areas before posting. I'll try the torch method to check for leaks. Although, I can rev the engine to full throttle on the stand and when I let off the rpm's drop pretty quick. With an intake leak, wouldn't...

86 Spree dies under load
I have an 86 spree that just does not want to run right anymore. It starts great and stays running while on the kickstand. Whenever I go to ride it, i take off but after about 5 seconds, it starts making a popping sound and starts dieing out. I can place my feet on the ground to take some weight off...

86 spree dies when riding
Ive been driving my 86 spree all spring with no problems. The other day I went to start it up and when I sat down to take off the thing just bogged out and died. I had run out of gas about 3 hours before this so I though that the carb might not be filled with gas. So I started it up no problems ther...

Found jog for sale
Hello everyone, I was doing my usual craigslist browsing and found a 1992 yamaha jog with 2300 miles for $450 dollars, It didn't say if it had a title or not, but it sounds like it runs fine. I'm up for a new project after I finished my spree, and I know that these jogs are pretty rare, but I wanted...

well i usually grill the muffler, but I don't have access to one right now so I plugged one end of the muffler with a cork and filled it with draino and hot water and let it sit over night. I flushed it with hot water and then use an air compressor to blow air through it to make sure all the water i...
